First-cross ewes with White Suffolk lambs make $340

1st-X-ewesFirst cross Border Leicester/Merino ewes and lambs topped the online market for the week, with a high price of $340 going to a line of 3 year olds out of Coonalpyn, SA.

These ewes had 260 lambs at foot sired by white Suffolk rams, and are heading to bolster the herd of a vendor in Kaniva, VIC.

Bidders are turning to online markets to source stock as clearance rates increased with 384 unique online users participating in this weeks auctions.

A total of 38,851 head were offered for a national clearance rate of 61%.

Merino ewe lambs sold well this week, with prices ranging from $90 to $174. This top price went to a line of Jandon Park blood lambs from Molong in NSW.

They weighed in at 50 kg and are heading to Orange. Merino ewe breeders were topped by a mob of 2 year old’s out of Nyngan, NSW. This line of Willandra blood ewes fetched $195 and were scanned in lamb to Poll Dorset and White Suffolk rams.

Merino wether lambs were in relatively low demand this week, and saw prices range from $65.5 to $121. The top price was made by a line of 45 kg Bogo blood lambs from Canberra, ACT and were shorn in November 2016.

 

First cross ewes sold from $140 to $178.5, with the top price going to a mob from Deniliquin, NSW. These 2-5 year olds were scanned in lamb to Poll Dorset rams, and are heading south to Wycheproof, VIC.

Staying in the south, a mob of 184 pure Primeline ewes out of Mannus, NSW sold for $145. These ewes are 10-11 months old and scanned empty. An annual offering of SAMM & SAMM x Merino future breeders from Nyngan deserve a mention, finding a strong price of $140 on Thursday. These ewes will make the journey to Ballarat, VIC.

Border Leicester/Merino ewe lambs from Oatlands made the top price in Tasmania this week with $175. These future breeders were bred out of Brooklands Merino ewes and Rockville Border Leicester rams, weighed 49 kg and are off to Western Junction, TAS.
