Grown steers and bullocks were firm to 5c easier on age and quality averaging 285c/kg for the two tooth at SELX.
Numbers improved as did the quality. There were more trade cattle available and feeders were better covered. Weaner steers and heifers attracted strong competition from restocking orders.
Grown steers and bullocks lifted in numbers but there were only 130 better quality cows penned.
Light restocking steers lifted 11c, ranging from 329c to 380c/kg. Restocking heifers sold to 350c/kg. Vealers ranged from 280c to 337c/kg.
Feeder steers were firm on the medium weights but heavy steers eased by 11c/kg. Prices ranged from 308c to 328c/kg for the medium weights.
Trade cattle eased 10c to 14c/kg on a better run. Trade steers sold from 289c to 329c and heifers made from 262c to 331c/kg.
The 2 score medium weight cows were 5c cheaper making from 200c to 215c/kg. While the heavy 3 and 4 scores were firm to 9c cheaper, selling from 218c to 245c, to average 235c/kg for the prime heavy weights.
