Poll Hereford cows top AuctionsPlus on $2320

Hereford-cowsThe top gong for pregnant females last week went to a line of Poll Herefords cows with 240kg calves at foot, making $2320 on AuctionsPlus.
The 2.5 – 6.5 year old Charnock blood cows have been AI’d to Allendale Aladdin (P) J17 and backed up with Viona Leo (P) L3, and offered by vendor I M Frost of Condah, VIC.
With Winter now behind us, cattle numbers rose this week to 6,192 head, an increase of 739 on last weeks listings.
An increase in numbers brought with it an increase in buyer confidence with clearance rates up to 72% at auction, up 14% from last week.
Predicted above average rainfall and temperatures for parts of the eastern seaboard heading into Spring could lead to stability in the weeks ahead.
Cow and calf units were dominated by NSW listings and strong competition saw the majority of lots selling well above reserve.
Units averaged $1647 to a top of $2030 for a line of Angus cross Poll Hereford breeders with calves sired by Ireland Angus and Limflex bulls. Congratulations to the vendor ‘Mark Irvin Transport Pty Ltd’ of Coolamon, NSW.
