“Good colour, EMA, neck carriage, softness and sire appeal”, were the comments from the 2017 Adelaide Royal Show judge, Peter Falls, Malton Shorthorns, regarding the 2017 Shorthorn Supreme Exhibit, Spencer Family Zephyr.
One of only two entries from Spencer Family Shorthorns at this years Adelaide Royal Show, the 18-month old Spencer Family Zephyr weighed in at 805 kilograms and scanned a 136 sq. cm. EMA with 6mm and 4 mm fats.
Judge Peter Falls, admired the bull for its “volume and size” and said that he was the “complete package.”
“Zephyr looks a lot heavier but is only slightly older,” he said.
Reserve Champion Shorthorn Bull was awarded to the Carlton Shorthorn Stud, Hanhdorf, for their 17-month old entry, Carlton Magic Mike, who weighed 695 kgs, with an EMA of 121 sq. cm. and 5mm and 4 mm fats.
Grand Champion Shorthorn Female was awarded to Spencer Family Coco, the second exhibit for Spencer Family Shorthorns. Described by the judge as an “outstanding exhibit”, Coco also had a very good calf at foot.
Reserve Grand Champion female was awarded to the Withers family, 15-month old Junior Champion Shorthorn Female, Belmore Matriach M103, described by Mr. Falls as a “magnificent” young Shorthorn female.
