Western Local Land Services is inviting landholders and stakeholders to the Gilgunnia Cluster Fence open day and tour to acknowledge the completion of the biggest exclusion fence in NSW.
The open day and fence tour, which is being held on Monday, 18 September, will showcase the Gilgunnia Cluster Fence project which involved 22 landholders and has seen 210 kilometres of fencing enclose 177,000 hectares.
The project has already achieved some great outcomes with landholders noting a considerable amount of pest animals such as pigs are now excluded from their properties.
It is expected the project will continue to provide important long-term improvements in the management of pest animals and also controlling grazing pressure within the cluster area.
Western Local Land Services General Manager, Erlina Compton believes the cluster fence has been a great improvement for the area and would encourage all landholders to attend the open day.
“This project has been great to be a part of and for landholders to already see improvements is fantastic,” Ms Compton said.
“For any landholders that are experiencing issues with pest animals or grazing pressure this open day is a must and I believe something that will be very beneficial for them.
“It will be a great day with a number of guest speakers including Federal Member for Parkes, Mark Coulton and Will Roberts who is a landholder with experience in cluster fencing.”
The open day will be held on “Penshurst”, one of the properties involved in the project. “Penshurst” is located 80 kilometres west of Condobolin and 150 kilometres south of Cobar. Directions will be available when you RSVP.
