After nearly fifteen years of service to DairyTas and a total of twenty five years in the Tasmanian dairy industry, DairyTas Regional Manager Mark Smith has announced his retirement.
Mark finished with DairyTas at the end of August.
The Board of DairyTas appointed Jonathan Price to succeed Mark and take up the Regional Manager role.
Jonathan is originally from Tasmania and comes to DairyTas with a wealth of experience and existing relationships in the dairy industry.
He has worked with Fonterra for the past eight years, initially as an Area Manager (Circular Head) and then later as Regional Milk Supply Manager – Tasmania.
Jonathan’s most recent role was Farmer Services Manager at Fonterra’s Headquarters in Melbourne.
DairyTas Chairman Simon Elphinstone said, “We are very fortunate to have secured the services of someone who has such an intimate knowledge of the Tasmanian Dairy industry. We are confident that Jonathan will continue to ensure that DairyTas is effectively supporting Tasmanian farmers into the future.”
Jonathan started in the role in mid-August and said he is excited about the prospect of returning to Tasmania and the opportunity to work directly with the farming community again.
“I have a passion for the Dairy Industry and working with dairy farmers. This is a great opportunity for me to return to Tasmania and take up this key role in the industry. I look forward to continuing the great work DairyTas has been doing and to building strong relationships with all sectors of the industry”.
DairyTas is a Regional Development Program funded through Dairy Australia.
