Feeder steers and heifers were 10c to 15c dearer, the steers made 282c to 295c and heifers made 260c to 280c/kg at SELX this week.
There was a lift in the number of cattle offered and the quality was good with plenty of well-covered cattle in all categories.
Yearlings were well supplied and there was a good mix of trade and feeder cattle available. Grown steers were carrying more weight on average.
The cow run showed improved quality. There were several extra buyers operating in a dearer market.
Restocking weaner steers lifted 14c and sold from 280c to 327c/kg. The majority of the heifers ranged from 270c to 290c/kg.
Restocking heifers lifted 11c and sold to 287c/kg. Medium and heavy trade steers increased 15c and sold between 282c and 302c/kg. Heifers to the trade lifted 4c and received 260c to 280c/kg.
Grown steers and bullocks gained 10c to range from 274c to 292c/kg. Trade heifers sold from 250c to 274c/kg.
Cows improved 12c to 20c/kg on average. The 2 score cows made 190c to 218c/kg. Heavy 3 and 4 score cows made 205c to 233.2c/kg. Heavy bulls topped at 279.2c/kg.
