First calving heifers sell for $2420 on AuctionsPlus

Tas-cattleFirst calvers sold well on AuctionsPlus last week, averaging $1,983 to a $2,420 top.

This top price went to a line of 2 to 3 year old Angus and Angus cross cows, with Angus calves at foot from ‘Willow Park’ Carcoar, NSW.

These have been joined back to Angus bulls. Another line of Santa Gertrudis and Santa Gertrudis cross first calvers from ‘Dalkeith’ Tamworth, NSW made good money at $2,350.

These have sappy Angus calves at foot and have been joined back to an Angus bull.

The Porter family, ‘Mywurlie’ Hay, NSW sold 34 Angus cows and calves, 20 to 34 months sold for $1,940.

Proven breeders sold to a top of $2,420 and an $1,795 average. This top price went to a line of 5 to 8 year old, ex registered, Paringa Angus cows with Paringa Charolais calves at foot from ‘Switzerland Pastoral Company’ Yea, VIC.

Also of note, was the dispersal of ‘Galloway Pastoral’ Crookwell, NSW which reached a top of $2,310 for a line of 3 to 5 year old Santa Gertrudis cows with Santa calves at foot. Two other lots sold similarly for $2,300.

Joined females, which were predominantly made up of heifers this week, average $1,656 for a $2,150 top.

This top price went to a line Angus heifers, 18 to 24 months who are PTIC to a Wagyu bull. These females were part of the annual sale from ‘Mingbool Pastoral’ Dartmoor, VIC.

In other breeds, a large offering of 220 Poll Hereford heifers, PTIC to Poll Hereford bulls from ‘Paspaley Pearls Properties’ Scone, NSW sold over three lots sold for $1,770.

Looking to Queensland, a line of 72 Brangus heifers, PTIC to Bar H Wagyu bulls sold for $1,200.
