Medium weight feeder stars firm at 272-305c/kg

Delta Agribusiness selling Angus x Steers on behalf of Kelburn Partnership to a top of 296c/kg, av 431.3kg, $1276.5ph.

Medium weight feeder steers were firm selling from 272c to 305c and restockers paid to 315c/kg at SELX last week.

The last cattle sale of 2017 saw numbers lift. Yearlings made up the majority of the yarding with most going to feeder orders.
Several pens of prime grown steers and bullock were also penned along with a mixed offering of grown heifers.
Around 160 cows that covered most weights and grades were offered to the usual group of buyers and an extra restocker who was operating on most cattle.

Vealers to restockers sold to 335c/kg.

Heavy weights to feed sold to 300c/kg. The few trade steers made from 260c to 270c/kg.
The return of a feeder order saw heifers lift 8c to 10c to sell between 265c and 287c/kg. A large run of light medium weight Angus heifers sold to a restocker for 305c/kg.

Grown steers were back 10c selling from 240c to 258c/kg and most of the grown heifers to process held firm. Heavy cows were firm to 2c cheaper receiving 200c to 223c/kg.

Light restocking cows sold dearer reaching 239c/kg. The best of the heavy bulls topped at 270c/kg. The first sale for 2018 is 4th January.
