Rakaia Holstein Breeders Richard and Alan Crowe and families offered the ‘Pick’ of their outstanding herd and Spring calving heifers following the sale of their property.
The sale was staged on farm and met spirited bidding from dairymen from throughout New Zealand.
Sale top of $14,000 was paid for the 7 year old two time All NZ Semex on farm challenge winner Annalea Lauthority Haidee, EX, she had produced 761 kgs solids and sold due in August to sexed Control, she was purchased by the famed Tahora herd of D & J Geddes.
The same buyer also selected Annalea Supersire Taylor, VG 86 backed by 10 gens of EX & VG dams at $8,000.
Second top price of $9,000 was paid for the yearling daughter of the top selling cow, Annalea Control Haidee selling to Hukauview Dairies.
The strongest buyers throughout the day was Daisy Downs Dairies, included in their large selection were two at $8,000 each being equal third high of the day Annalea Lauthority Demi, VG 89 and Annalea Mogul Molly, VG 86 on her first lactation.
Also in their line was Annalea Ziggy Peace-ET, VG 89 and Annalea Mogul Trinity, VG 86 both at $7,000. Annalea Lauthority Bea, VG 89, Annalea Boxer Lace, VG 89, Annalea Mogul Star, VG 85, Annalea Observer Fawn, VG 89 and Annalea Stig Sage, VG 87 all at $6,000 each.
Other noted sales included the outstanding young cow Annalea Mogul Silla bred from the imported Australian S family at $7,000 to strong buyers Glenalla Farms of the Gilbert Family.
Also at $7,000 was Annalea Bronco Olivia, EX selling to Belrose Farms, these buyers also selected Annalea Lauthority Delia, EX a former Semex On Farm Challenge winner at $5,500.
Cresslands Farms paid $6,000 for the top young cow Annalea Mogul Paris. Ken Eade and Son of Gore selected several lots including Annalea Planet Claire, VG 86 at $5,500, Annalea Bronco Beauty, VG 88 at $5,100 and Annalea Emerald Anna, EX at $5,000.
Top selling joined heifer at $4,400 was the A2A2 tested Annalea Salt Sharon from an EX Shottle dam selling to North Island breeders W & L Taylor.
Other noted heifer sales were Annalea Lauthority Beth from an EX dam with 860 kgs solids selling at $4,000 to Est AR Sutherland. Also at $4,000 was Annalea Salt Lillith selling to Lynch Farms and Annalea Pety Peg to Cresslands Farms.
