Zenith Australia Group offered 1,700 head in the 2018 Yakka Munga Cattle Sale, assessed by Mitchell Braithwaite, Landmark Geraldton, WA on AuctionsPlus.
Brahman cross yearling bulls aged 10 – 16 months, weighing 331kgs made $791 or 239c/kg, while 7 – 12 month old weaned steers weighing 227kgs made $523 or 230c/kg.
PTIC and joined female numbers were strong and saw 1,820 head listed, with decent listings out of both New South Wales and Queensland.
Quality was varied with prices ranging from $790 to $1730, averaging $1158. The top price was achieved by a line of 3 – 3.5 year old Angus cows, PTIC back to Angus Bulls, A/c ‘Willalooka Pastoral Co’ from Naracoorte, SA.
Station mated Brangus cows aged 2 to 11 years with CAF made $1320, A/c ‘NA & JM Armstrong’ from Blackall, QLD.
Two small lines of Angus/Poll Hereford and Limousin/Shorthorn heifers aged 21 – 22 months averaged $1115. Offered A/c ‘Watgania Pastoral Co’, these heifers are PTIC to Angus bulls, from Ararat, VIC.
Cow and calf units this week saw 336 head listed, with prices ranging from $1100 to $1675 and averaging $1344.
The top price was for a line of Myanga Angus blood, 4 year old Angus cows & calves, A/c ‘Chicken Fried Pty Ltd’ from Sutton, NSW.
Angus/Friesian heifers and calves aged 26 – 28 months made $1520, A/c ‘AA Marson’ from Buln Buln, VIC. ‘DG, GM & R Warden’, offered a line of 36 – 38 month old Angus/Limousin cows and calves which made $1200, from Loomberah, NSW and are heading to Goondiwindi, QLD.
A total of 4,083 head were offered in our weekly Weaner & Yearling sale, 267 head down on last week. ‘Speriby North Pty Ltd’ offered 211 EU accredited heifers across 7 lots, from Deepwater and Tenterfield, NSW.
A line of 10 – 12 month old un-weaned heifers topped the offering, sold over 3 lots, returning an average of $1100. Three different buyers secured the sought after heifers, in New South Wales and Queensland.
