PTIC heifers average $918 on AuctionsPlus

Station mated cows, four to five years, with calves from Braidwood, NSW, sold for $1730 on AuctionsPlus last week.

PTIC heifers sold from $600 to $1260 and averaged $918 on AuctionsPlus last week.

The top price went to a line of Glenlands Clonara blood Droughtmaster heifers from Bungunya, QLD.

The heifers, aged 18 to 24 months, weigh 415kg and are PTIC to Carabar Angus bulls. Another highlight includes a line of 13-20 month old Santa and Santa Cross heifers from Dalby, QLD which sold for $910.

Weighing 378kg these girls are PTIC to Bullamakinka Santa bulls. PTIC cows sold from $700 to $1100 and averaged $909.

The top price went to a line of Kilburnie blood Angus cows from Walcha, NSW. These EU accredited cows are aged 5 to 7 years, weigh 567kg and are PTIC to Angus bulls. Another highlight includes a line of EU accredited Lawson and Barwidgee blood Angus cows from Willaura North, VIC.

These cows are aged 3 to 7 years, weigh 527kg and are PTIC to Angus bulls. A line of Wagyu / Friesian cows from Armidale, NSW selling for $800 also caught my eye. These cows are aged 5 to 6 years, weigh 441kg and are PTIC to Wagyu bulls.

Less than half of cow and calf offerings sold at auction this week, with prices starting at $1150 and selling to a top of $1730.

This top price went to a line of proven Angus breeders from Braidwood, NSW. These vendor bred cows come from Dunoon & Hazeldean bloodlines, aged 4 to 5 years, weigh 559kg and have been depastured to Angus bulls.

The Angus cows at foot are aged 3 to 5 months and weigh an average of 134kg.

From Holbrook, NSW a line of Hereford cows and calves sold for $1570 and are heading on a 700km road trip to Naracoorte, SA. The rising 3 year old cows are 514kg and have been depastured to Hazeldean Angus bulls.

The Hereford calves at foot are aged 3 to 4 months and weigh an average of 125kg. A line of Dulverton blood Angus cows and calves from Texas, QLD sold for $1,260.

These cows are aged 4 to 7 years and weigh 428kg. The predominately Angus calves at foot are aged 1 to 5 months and weigh an average of 87kg.

The Tasmanian market kicked this week with 100% clearance and all lots sold well above their set reserve price.

The highlight was a line of Angus and Angus cross steers, aged 9 to 12 months weighing 315kg from Westwood, which sold for $1090 or 346c/kg. From the same vendor the heifer portion of the mob which weighed 307kg sold for $906 or 295c/kg.

From Relbia 4 lines of Angus, 6 to 9 month old calves were offered. Steers weighing 246kg sold for $800 or 325c. Heifers weighing 305kg sold for $910 or 298c.

Heifers weighing 341kg sold for $936 or 274c. And the lightest line of heifers weighing 262kg sold for $770 or 293c.

The WA market was also red hot with all lots selling. A line of weaned Angus and Angus cross steers, aged 10 to 11 months, weighing 335kg sold for $1000 or 298c.

From the same vendor the heifer portion of the mob which weighed 332kg sold for $890 or 268c. To finish off, a line of predominately Angus / Friesian cows, weighing 272kg dressed sold for $1078 or 398c/kg dressed.
