Agriculture Victoria has information and support available to assist farmers in managing dry seasonal conditions which are being experienced across much of the state.

Agriculture Victoria Director of Agriculture Services, Dougal Purcell said the Victorian Government recognised that the approaching weeks are critical for farmers and that rainfall was needed for crop and pasture growth and to replenish dams coming into spring.

“We are encouraging farmers to access the information that is available, develop a plan for the possible scenarios and make timely decisions relevant to their own circumstances.

“Agriculture Victoria and industry groups are available to assist farmers interpret information to make informed decisions,” he said.

“Workshops provide information on managing the impacts of dry seasonal conditions on livestock, feed and water availability and budgeting, the seasonal outlook and farmer health.

“While these events provide valuable information for producers, they are also an important opportunity for farmers to get off the farm and socialise with others experiencing similar conditions,” he said.
