Joined heifers make $1820 and average $1400

These cows and calves from Blayney, NSW, sold for $1820 on AuctionsPlus.

Joined heifers sold from $1,200 to $1,820 and averaged $1,400 with a line of Poll Hereford heifers from Byawatha, VIC selling for $1,350 on AuctionsPlus last week.

These heifers are 2 ½ year old, weigh 581kgs and are predominantly Morgan Vale and Wyuna Blood.

Joined & PTIC female numbers almost doubled to total 991 head, with the majority coming out of NSW & VIC.

Joined cows sold from $950 to $2,470 and averaged $1,523. 2 lines of PTIC Angus cows from Bunyip North, VIC sold for $1,710. These cows are aged 4-6 years and are Banquet Angus bloodlines.

Looking to NSW, Angus X Limousin second calvers from Armidale made $1,230. These cows are 3 year old, and are PTIC to a Glenmorgan Angus bull.

Cow and calf numbers increased to total 1,523 head, up 336 on last. Despite the increase in listings clearance was also up achieving a total of 56%.

Prices ranged from $960 to $2,120 and averaged $1,494. The top price was for a line of station mated Te Mania blood cows with CAF.

These cows are EU accredited, 5 years old and were offered by A/c ‘Tonga Station’ Mansfield, VIC. The same vendor also offered a further 222 head in the same sale and received 100% clearance, with lots selling to both NSW & VIC.

These were assessed by Mick Curtis of Rodwells & Co Euroa. A line of Hereford cows & calves from Culcairn, NSW sold for $1,360, these cows are 3-4 years old and are joined back to Injemira bulls.

A line of 24 Station mated Angus cows & calves from Gunning, NSW are headed across to Tasmania. These cows and calves made $1,660 and are 4 year old.

A total of 3,670 head were listed in this weeks Weaner & Yearling sale with 318 Santa Gertrudis weaned heifers were offered over 3 lots A/C ‘Chandler Pastoral Holdings’ Barcaldine, QLD.

These heifers are aged 7-14 months, weigh 232kgs and made 280c/kg or $650. 2 lines of Angus yearling steers were offered by A/c ‘CH & KR Wills’ Mandurama, NSW. The 384kg steers made 313c/kg or $1,205 and the 338kg steers made 352c/kg or $1,190.

Looking to WA, 1,746 head were offered in the IRA Pemberton Elite Vealer, Weaner & Yearling sale.

This is the 27th year that agent Col Thexton has run the sale in conjunction with AuctionsPlus.

Vealers sold from 519c/kg to 543c/kg and averaged 527c/kg dressed. Weaned steers sold from 301c/kg to 330c/kg and averaged 316c/kg live, while weaned heifers sold from 280c/kg to 325c/kg and averaged 287c/kg live.
