The 8th Western Australian Charolais Sale held on February 21 had a strong buying gallery in place which resulted in all bulls finding new homes.
Twenty three of the 25 sires on offer sold at auction with two bulls sold immediately after.
Top price was the Perth Grand champion bull Liberty National Treasure N52 (P) (RF) selling for $9,500 to Central Stockcare, Bullsbrook.
Sired by Silverstream Geddes G102 this bull weighed in at 1000kg and boosted an 139cm2 EMA. Buyer Katie Ryan commented they “were looking specifically for a red factor bull.
He fits what we are looking for in breeding cattle for both the domestic market and to sire herd bulls for the pastoral operations.”
They plan to use the sire over commercial Droughtmaster cows to breed sires for their Gasgoyne property. Liberty Charolais sold the top price bull and averaged $6,528 for their 9 sires offered and sold.
Second top price was Venturon Livestock with Adelaide Grand champion bull Venturon New Design (P).
This bull sold for $8,250 to D Bruce and Son, Waroona. Venturon also sold the third top price bull Venturon National Treasure N35 sired by Sparrows Kingston 139Y.
This first son of Kingston to sell in Australia made $8,000 selling to Elgin Park Charolais for stud sire duties. Venturon sold 3/3 to average $6,750.
David and Jan Ellis offered 11 sires to sell 9 at auction and average $5,639 with their top being$7,500. Eagle Tor offered and sold two to average $4,500. Overall the sale averaged $6,033 for a 92% clearance.
