Illawarra enthusiasts from five states were at Whorouly for the Second Stage Complete Dispersal Sale of Robert & Maree Newton.
They bid keenly on all lots with the top price of $7,250 being paid for the yearling Bull Ovensdale Roses Mitch, this son of last years top selling cow Rose 182, EX 93 was purchased by K Rattray of Pyengana, Tasmania.
The Rattray’s were strong buyers throughout the sale, their selections also included Ovensdale Scarlet 362 a top young 3 year old cow due to Viper at $4,000.
Top selling cow was Ovensdale Pearl 534 at $5,200, this 5 year old had produced 424 kgs fat and sold to the Bourke & Henry Partnership from Hodgson Vale, Qld.
Top selling heifer was Ovensdale Beauty 459 a Scarlets Treble daughter at $4,200 selling to Jerry English of Malanda, North Qld.
Other noted sales included Ovensdale Buttercup 391 a top young cow by Anticipation at $4,100 to R & A Heath of Bookar. Ovensdale Scarlet 320 an 11,000 litre young cow at $4,000 to J Breen of Beaac.
Ovensdale Jenny 94 a daughter of noted cow Jenny 62, EX at $3,750 to D & R Ross of Heath Hill, these buyers also selected the Autumn calving heifer Ovensdale Scarlet 392 at $3,600.
Selling agents Dairy Livestock Services report buyers were from South Australia, Tasmania, all parts of Victoria, NSW and both North and Southern parts of Qld.
