Drought buster sale grosses over $360,000

Lot 47 Glenlea Charol 77th Sold for $12,250.

The “DROUGHT BUSTER GLENLEA BEEF” online Charolais female sale topped at $12,250 with cattle and genetics selling to S.A, Victoria, Qld and NSW.

Many cattle went to repeat buyers with a number of new clients purchasing a good number of  lots as well.

In the spring calving female section, with big calves at foot and rejoined, 22/24 offered sold at Auction to a top of $11,250 for Lot 2 Orara Waterfall BOP BOP 1st (P) to average $4,659.

The top two lots identified as “Gold Star” lots by Glenlea’s principal Roderick Binny made $10,750 and $11,250 respectively.  These were both heifers with their first calf at side.

Lot 1 was Sired by GLENLEA HILTON (P) and from Glenlea’s Nolana cow family she had her outstanding June born bull calf at side weighing 461 kg.

While Lot 2 who topped the section was sired by senior herdsire LV Grandiose (P) and  had her stunning June born heifer calf weighing 425 kg at side. Both calves were sired by new Homozygous herdsire, Charnelle LOUIS (P) as all the spring calves were.

Both the top price females went to Taylor Livestock , Nowra NSW and repeat volume buyer, C A Hall, Nymboida, selected 6 lots from this section to a top of $4,000.

11/14  show prospect heifers, all 12 months old, were sold at Auction to top at $4,250 for  Glenlea Lola 1st sired by impact carcass sire GLENLEA JEDDI (P) and averaged $3,022.

Top priced lot 30 and lot 31, her half sister, both sired by GLENLEA JEDDI (P) went to Ellerslie Cattle Co c/- Greg Cole, Denman, NSW.  PL Corfield, Charters Towers, bought 3 in this section to a top of $4,000 for Lot 25.

In the Autumn calver’s 24/35 offered sold at Auction to a top of $12,250 for lot 47 GLENLEA CHAROL 77th  (P) SHE WAS OVERALL TOP PRICE FEMALE OF THE SALE as was purchased by Grant Taylor Livestock, Nowra, NSW.

This section averaged $4,239 and repeat volume buyer of 8 lots to a top of $4,750 for lot 61 was C A Hall of Nymboida, NSW.

Lachlan Dickson, Chelbrook Charolais, Biloela, QLD repeat buyer took home 3 lots from this section to a top of $4,500 along with 2 lots from the Spring calving section to a top of $6,250.

Volume buyer of the entire sale was Grant Taylor Livestock P/L, Nowra and he purchased 17 lots, in all sections of the sale including 4 Autumn calving females, including the top priced lot, Lot 47 GLENLEA CHAROL 77th (P) for $12,250.

7/8 Flushes in donor cows sold at auction, to top at $5,000 for Rebby Cigar 14th (P) this lot along with lot 41 GLENLEA CHAROL 91st (P) at $4,750 and lot 46, Estella 416 at $4,000 were all purchased by Sam Taylor, ALLEDNAW CHAROLAIS, Kerang, Victoria. The flushes averaged $3,829.

In the joined female section 9/20 offered sold under the hammer to a top of $4,500 twice to average $3,139.  Lot 87 sold for $4,500, a homozygous polled heifer PTIC to GLENLEA KENWORTH (P) to PL Corfield, Charters Towers QLD and lot 99 sold for $4,500, an outstanding red factor polled heifer from the GLENLEA ISABELLA cow family, sired by GLENLEA HONORABLE (P) R/F  to Joe Sfarra, Currency Creek, S.A.

A number of lots sold post sale, 102 lots from 112 offered giving over 90% clearance and a sale gross of just over $360,000.

Of particular note was the private sale of a second flush in LOT 46, FLUSH in Estella 416 (P)  DONOR, post sale to losing bidder from the USA, FARAWAY CHAROLAIS, North Carolina.
