A large crowd of dairymen from throughout the State and Southern NSW were at Shepparton Selling Centre for the large complete dispersal sale for S & S Griffiths of Katanga, comprising of Holsteins, Jerseys and crossbreds.
There was very strong demand for autumn calved cows with the Holstein segment of these selling for an average of $1,700.
Sale top of $2,600 was paid for a fresh Goldbullion, next top of $2,500 was for a very correct 3 year old. There were 3 young cows each selling at $2,300, all 3 year old including an Altaross daughter.
Top selling Jersey at $2,300 was an exceptional 4 year old by Hatman bred from famed Broadlin genetics.
Selling agents Dairy Livestock Services report the following – 112 Autumn calved cows av $1470, 89 Spring calving cows av $1031, 110 Heifers mostly X Bred all ages av $600.
Overall 311 head grossed $321,840.
