Angus and Angus infused cattle enjoyed success at the recent Wingham Beef Week.
A 544kg Angus steer exhibited by Wingham High School won champion led carcase scoring 95.15 points out of 100 by Meat Standards Australia, with a carcase weight of 306kg.
The heavy middleweight steer had a perfect score for saleable meat, 19.5 out of 20 for market specifications and 40.65 out of 45 for eating quality.
During the live judging, grand champion led steer went to an Angus infused steer exhibited by St Joseph’s High School, Aberdeen, and bred by Scott Brooker, Rouchel.
The 492kg steer, who placed first in its middleweight class and had a rib fat of 8 mm and rump fat at 16mm.
