These Angus calves sold on their mothers for $1640.

Demand for cows and calves was stronger, achieving a 70% clearance for the 1,200 head offered on AuctionsPlus.

Prices ranged from $640 to $1,640 and averaged $1,111. NSW had the majority of listings again and achieved 100% clearance.
The premium was achieved by a line of 53 Angus cows and calves, A/c ‘Bald Blair Pastoral’, Guyra, NSW.
The cows are 3-5 years old, EU accredited and have 2-10 week old calves at foot.
Other highlights include a line of 4-5 year old Angus/Limousin cows with calves sold for $1,320 from Tamworth and are heading to a buyer in Northern Victoria. ‘JM & SA Morse’ from Molong, NSW offered 3 lines of Angus cows and calves.
The younger 3 year old cows sold for $1,210 and the older 4-6 year old cows sold for $1,600 and $1,630 respectively.
Looking to the west, the WA cattle sale saw 100% clearance. Yearling Angus steers from Balingup sold for $1,000. The steers are 14-17 months old and weigh 314kgs. In Northcliffe, 20 Angus/Friesian trade steers made 480c/kg dressed. They weigh 593kgs and are 2.5 years old.
Light steers under 200kgs averaged 264c, up 42c on last week. A line of 8-10 month old Angus steers, weighing 193kgs, from Inverell, NSW returned the top price of 296c.
Prices for steers weighing 200-280kgs were also up on last week, averaging 299c, a jump of 20c. The top price of 338c went to a line of 35 Angus yearling steers, A/c ‘Meringa’ from Willaura, VIC weighing 221kgs. Another highlight included a line of 182, 9-10 month old Angus X steers, A/c ‘Culgoa Beef’, from Dirranbandi, QLD which sold for 312c. While from Glen Innes, NSW a line of 63 Angus steers, weighing 284kgs and 12-14 months old sold for 309c.
Heavier steers weighing between 280-330kgs averaged 296c and ranged from 146c to 337c.
The top price went to a line of 12-13 month old Angus steers, A/c ‘Darbalara Property Trust – The Junction’, from Coolac, NSW. The steers weigh 324kgs and are Bongongo and Rennlyea Angus blood.
Another highlight includes a small line of 8 Santa Gertrudis X steers from Ross, TAS. The steers are 12-13 months old, weigh 315kgs and returned 320c. Heavy steers weighing above 330kgs averaged 288c and ranged from 265c to 316c.
The top price was for a line of 12-13 month old Poll Hereford X steers from Ross, TAS. Another highlight includes 64 Hereford feeder steers from Yeoval, NSW. The steers are 11-13 months old and weigh 371kgs.
