Examining cattle’s ability to cope with heat stress

Angus-committeeAn animal’s ability to cope with heat stress in hotter/drier summer conditions will be the focus of a beef forum at Cowra next month.

The NSW State Angus Committee invites members to attend an upcoming afternoon session of the NSW State Committee Meeting on November 22 from 3pm at the Cowra Services Club. 

The session will feature guest speaker Dr Gordon Refshauge, pre-eminent livestock researcher based at Cowra Research Station.
 He will speak on understanding and improving an animal’s ability to cope with heat stress in hotter/drier summer conditions 

Mr Ben Hill – Stud Principal, Bulliac Angus, will give an overview of the USA beef cattle seed stock and commercial sector from his recent tour through numerous states and leading AI centres and studs.  

It will cover making sense of the value of a $1.5 million bull recently sold by the Schaff Angus Valley program 

Following the speakers there will be a drinks hour and retirement dinner for past secretary Mr Richard Buck.
