AngusCONNECT field day shelved

Angus-field-dayTo comply with the protocols set by the government and health authorities regarding COVID-19, the planned AngusCONNECT Field Day, hosted with the Graham Centre and Charles Sturt University Wagga Wagga, scheduled for June 30, 2020 will no longer go ahead.

Whilst it is an unfortunate decision to make in regards to this exciting event, Angus Australia remain vigilant on adhering to the regulations and advice provided by the Government in terms of travel and public gatherings for the safety of the wider community, and we look forward to bringing another excellent event to our southern Angus community in the future.

Angus Australia encourages members to stay tuned to our various social media channels and www.angusaustralia.com.au for details for upcoming AngusCONNECT online events, set to provide updates for members on the latest research and development outcomes from Angus Australia during this time of physical distancing.

Meanwhile sire nominations are now open for the next round of the Angus Sire Benchmarking Program (ASBP) in order to produce the Cohort 11 Progeny.

The Angus Sire Benchmarking Program (ASBP) is a major initiative of Angus Australia with support from Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) and industry partners such as Vetoquinol, Rangers Valley Feedlot and John Dee Abattoir.  Nominations for the Cohort 11 sires will remain open until Monday August 3rd, for a September Joining.

The joining program expected to involve over 2,000 Angus cows across five co-operator herds, where approximately 40 bulls will be selected for the 2020 program with the aim to join each bull to at least 50 cows by fixed time AI.

The bull selection criteria will be based on genetic diversity, breeding values, selection indexes and their relationship to sires already used in the ASBP.
