Feeder steers, weighing 330-400kgs, sold between 226c and 422c averaging 396c, up 8c from last week on AuctionsPlus.
The top price hailed from A/c “Gardiner Bros Farms P/L” Caldwell, NSW with a line of 93 predominately Angus steers (pictured), 12-16 months, 348kgs sold to Bathurst, NSW.
Best off in VIC was from A/c “Dalander P/L” which saw a line of 32 unweaned steers, 10-12 months, 373kgs sell for 414c from Porepunkah to Albury, NSW.
The heavy steers, weighing over 400kgs, saw a slight decline in average by 10c to hit 368c, ranging from 224-417c, seeing a lot bigger range in prices than those received last week.
The top line price was from A/C “J & J Glare” which saw 90 feeder steers, 17-19 months weigh 422kg. The Landfall Angus bloodline steers sold from Mumbannar, VIC a feedlot in Northern NSW.
Cow and calf units were in high demand again this week with a 98% clearance. Despite this, prices overall were down $631 on last weeks record highs to see an average of $1,704 and prices ranging between $1,200 and $3,250.
A/c “J H McInnes” from Everton, VIC offered a line of NSM Heifers & calves which made the top price of $3,250.
There were 13 Dunoon blood heifers, 34-36 months old with 2-8 week old CAF which are heading to Brighton North. Up in NSW A/c “Stockinbingal Pastoral” at Camden sold a line of 24-30 month old, 434kg Rennylea/Narrangullen bloodline Angus heifers with CAF for $3,240 which are bound for Quirindi.
PTIC cow listings were down by 389 head this week to see a total yarding of 835. Prices took a bit of a hit with the top price down $1,000 on last weeks, tightening the range between $1,300 and $2,040.
Overall, the average dropped slightly by $168 but remained reasonably steady at $1,741. The top price was attained by A/c “Kangaroo Mountain Pty Ltd” from Coolac, NSW with a line of 27 PTIC cows, 5-6 years, weighing in at 455kg. They are Bongongo & Crawford Angus bloodlines and are heading to Pulletop, NSW.
PTIC heifers came back from last week’s impressive prices. This week they averaged $1,677, down $226, with prices ranging between $1,430 and $2,310.
The top price was a line of 24 PTIC Crawford bloodline Angus heifers, 19-20 months weighing 490kg offered by A/c “Indian Creek Pty Ltd” at Adjungbilly, NSW. Up in QLD, A/c “SLM” sold the top price line of 328 PTIC heifers which was split across 4 lots, selling from $1,640 to $1,660.
The predominately Santa Gertrudis line weighed 406kg and were 14-16 months old, heading from Blackall, QLD to Coonamble and Dubbo in NSW, and Injune, QLD.
For the second week in a row steer numbers were down with total yarding of 2,510 head.
The reduced numbers saw an upward trend in prices across most categories and a strong clearance rate of 75%. Light steers under 200kgs saw the second biggest jump in prices, selling between 365c and 610c to average 504c, up 19c on last week.
The top price went to a line of 17 unweaned steers for A/c “Forest Lodge Enterprises”, weighing 186kgs and are 7-9 months old. They are predominately of Texas Angus bloodline and are trotting across from Wee Waa to Narrabri.
Steers weighing 200-280kgs were up 23c on last week to 489c, the biggest jump out of the steer categories as prices ranged from 367c to 550c.
A/c “G W Smith” offered the top line of 46 Angus weaned steers, weighing in at 226kg, 7-8 months old. The Glengown bloodline steers were from Newbridge, NSW and are heading to Walcha, NSW.
Up in QLD a line of 56 backgrounder steers from A/c “CJ Lee” weighing 236kg, 8-12 months, sold for 471c, and are staying local in the St George area.
Looking to the 280-330kg category, steers sold from 351-430c, to average 405c, taking a small drop of 8c. A/c “Peter Beale” sold the top line of 89 backgrounder steers, weighing in at 312kg and 14-18 months old.
The predominately Shorthorn steers were all out of a Weebollabolla Shorthorn bulls and are heading from Mungallala, QLD to St George.
