Steer weaners average 429c/kg online

Calves-YetmanSteers weighing 280-330kg saw a 24c average price increase, selling from 362c to 476c, averaging 429c last week.

The top price went to a line of 282kg Angus steers aged 7-9 months. With Glenavon and Clunie Range blood, these steers offered by A/c ‘EJ & PE Billing’ from Yetman, NSW (pictured) will be heading north to QLD.

Feeder steers weighing between 330kgs and 400kgs sold from 330c to 419c, averaging 365c, down 31c on the previous week.

The top price was achieved by a line of 351kg Poll Hereford steers aged 11-12 months. Offered by A/c ‘DA & KM Turner’ from South Gundagai, NSW these Injemira blood steers will be heading up to Yass, NSW.

With only two lines of heavy steers weighing over 400kgs, sold as a run out the gate, offered this week, the average price eased to 342c, down 25c on last week. The Droughtmaster steers from Clermont, QLD offered by A/c ‘ACR & DL Donaldson’ weigh 445kgs and are 18-24 months old.

Cow and calf units remained popular with a 90% clearance, to total 836 head sold. Prices jumped significantly, selling from $1,720 to $3,020, averaging $2,119, up $418.

The top price was achieved by a line of Angus and Angus cross station mated heifers and calves sired by Simmental bulls. Weighing 455kgs, these 18-24-month-old heifers have 3-5-month-old CAF and were offered by A/c ‘Tool Holdings’ from Parkes, NSW. From Fish Creek, VIC, a line of 2.5-3.5-year-old PTIC Hereford heifers weighing 542kg with 7-8-month-old CAF achieved $2,960. Offered by A/c ‘Ellerslie Park’, these Mawarra blood cows and calves will be heading to Tullibigeal, NSW.

PTIC cows reached a 71% clearance to total 1,097 head, selling from $1,450 to $2,470, averaging $1,997, up $187. From Tenterfield, NSW A/c ‘Athlyne’ offered the top price, with a line of Speriby North blood Angus mixed-age cows, PTIC to Speriby North Angus bulls.

From Goondiwindi, QLD, a line of 3.5-year-old Angus cows weighing 624kgs sold for $2,400 and will be making their way south to Inverell, NSW, offered by A/c ‘Wambianna’.

PTIC heifers sold from $1,400 to $2,050 to average $1,688, down $27 on last week. A line of 18-21-month old heifers offered by A/c ‘Wyalla”’ from Piallaway, NSW achieved the top price.

These Booragul blood polled Angus heifers weigh 541kgs and are PTIC to registered Angus bulls. From Londrigan, VIC offered by A/c ‘Eldary Partnership’ a line of 408kg Speckle Park heifers sold for $2,000. These 19-20-month-old Landfall & Pinnacle blood heifers will be travelling across the border to Roslyn, NSW.

Steer numbers also rose this week to total 3,685 head sold. The increased offering was welcomed by buyers, seen through the increased clearance of 92% which was significantly higher than 75% from the previous week. Light steers under 200kg sold from 343c to 624c, averaging 537c.

The top price was achieved by Rennylea and Hazeldean blood polled Angus steers offered by A/c ‘Nithsdale’ from Braidwood, NSW. These 6-7-month-old steers weigh 198kgs and will be heading to Marrar in the Riverina region of NSW.

Steers weighing 200-280kgs sold from 365c to 612c, averaging 498c, up 10c on last week. A line of 7-8-month-old Angus steers weighing 207kgs achieved the top price, offered by A/c ‘Pint Pot’ from Armidale, NSW. A/c ‘Nithsdale’ also offered another successful line of Rennylea and Hazeldean blood Angus steers which sold for 599c. These 240kg steers are going to Gurrundah, NSW.
