Virtual judging competition for juniors

Junior-judgingTo ensure that the youth of the beef industry do not miss out, as many competitions have headed online, Angus Youth Alumni, Monique Estrada has created a Virtual Junior Judging Competition.

Miss Estrada won the 2019 Angus Youth National Judging Competition and has recently returned from the University of Illinois after unfortunately having her scholarship cut short due to COVID-19.

It was during her time at the University of Illinois and as part of the livestock judging team that inspired Miss Estrada to set up this competition.

‘After spending the last couple of months at the University of Illinois competing and training as part of the livestock judging team, I was able to experience the value of judging livestock through video classes as a hugely helpful tool and teaching method,’ she said.

‘Now with the cancellation of all shows and youth events for the upcoming months, I thought why not introduce this method of judging to the youth of Australia! A great way to have some fun judging cattle, practice and further develop your skills as a livestock judge, ready for the show season to recommence in the near future,’ Miss Estrada added.

The competition opened on April 22 and close on Friday the 1st of May 2020.
