2020 National Shorthorn sale goes online

Shorthorn-bulls-5The 2020 National Shorthorn Sale will go ahead on Wednesday June 10 at 10am, offering 70 elite Shorthorn sires and 10 top shelf Shorthorn females interfaced with the online selling platforms, AuctionsPlus and Elite Livestock Auctions.

Presale inspections are still achievable, and Nagol Park Shorthorns, Kamilaroi Shorthorns and Kingsley Vale Shorthorns at Tamworth are leading the way, already advertising inspection days for prospective buyers on Friday 22ndand Saturday 23rd May.

Buyers this autumn have enjoyed the presale inspection format as it provides them with time and a one on one experience with the seedstock producer that an auction format rarely affords.

Quality photos are also a must, but given almost any smartphone will take quality video these days, videos have become the new standard for promoting seedstock.

Youtube provides a tremendous outlet for video promotions. Many breeders are also using the video platform to give a short presentation about the animals specifically and their breeding programs more generally.

Electronic flyers are extremely cost effective as there is no printing or postage and their design usually allows for a more eye catching and informative format. There are many excellent graphic designers who specialise in seedstock marketing.

Facebook, email and websites also provide a no-cost way to get your messages out to prospective buyers. It is important to monitor these and respond to any questions promptly.

Of course, nothing beats a phone call to existing clients and making sure you follow up leads with a personal touch.

Shorthorn bull sales have already set new records this autumn and this just demonstrates that the presale inspection and electronic marketing platforms can yield excellent results.

Equally, bull sales that haven’t embraced the new conditions have struggled to generate the necessary traction.

Many that have embraced the new conditions and made the most of available marketing channels, have declared that they will continue to embrace this even after restrictions are lifted.

The 2020 National Sale Committee will continue to provide updates regarding the sale and for vendors the new selling paradigm provides tremendous opportunity.
