Cows and calves ease back to average $2345

Cows-WellingtonCow and calf units were in high demand again with a 92% clearance. Prices took a slight hit dropping back $199, to range from $1,600 to $3,300, averaging $2,345.

The top price went to a line of Rosedale blood Charolais cows and calves. A/c ‘Elabah Partnership’ from Wellington, NSW and are heading just west to Trangie, NSW.

The NSM cows (pictured) are 4 years old and weigh 621lgs with 2 to 7 wek old calves at foot, weighing 110kgs, and sired by a Black Simmental bull. Another highlight goes to a line Angus cows and calves offered A/c ‘Julong Partnership’, Adjungbilly, NSW which sold to a buyer in Quirindi, NSW for $3,250. These cows were aged 2 years and 7 months, weigh 537kgs and are of Bongongo, Crawford and Rennylea genetics. The Angus calves at foot are 2 months old and weigh 105kgs.

PTIC cows sold from $1,420 to $2,600, averaging $1,858, down $86 on last week. Numbers remained firm this week with 2,132 on offer. Despite the drop in price there was a 92% clearance rate. The top price went to a line of Angus cows from A/c ‘Julong Partnership’, Adjungbilly, NSW and are heading to Blanford, NSW.

These cows are 5-6 years old, weigh 660kgs and have been PTIC to an Angus bull. Honourable mention goes to a line of RIFA Salutary blood Angus cows from A/c ‘Ulupna Pastoral’, Yarroweyah, VIC which sold for $2,340 to a buyer in Walcha, NSW. These cows are 3 year old, weigh 549kgs and are joined to Te Mania and Lawsons Angus bulls.

PTIC heifers saw a drop in number of head offered to 1,238. Prices ranged from $1,360 to $2,925, to average $1,949, up $127 on last week. The top price went to A/c ‘Duncan Clowes’, from Millthorpe, NSW who offered 22 Angus heifers aged 20-22 months, weighing 531kgs and PTIC to Te Mania bulls.

These girls are off to Wagga Wagga, NSW. Looking away from the Angus breed, a line of 38 Poll Herefords from A/c ‘DH Hill & Co‘, Cootamundra, NSW sold to a buyer in Colac, VIC for $5/kg. These heifers are 21-22 months, weigh 514kgs and have been PTIC to LBW Tobruk Poll Hereford Bulls.

Light steers under 200kgs sold from 481c to 627c, averaging 542c, up 7c. The top price went to a line of Angus steers from A/c ‘MH & K Foster’, Ebor, NSW. These steers are out of a line of Raff blood Angus, 5 to 6 months old and weigh 164kgs. Notable mention also goes to A/c ‘Bogee Beef Pty Ltd’ from Glen Alice, NSW for their line of 40 weaned Angus steers, 8 to 9 months, weighing 174kgs, which sold for 591c.

Steers weighing 200 to 280 kgs sold from 405c to 544c, averaging 478c, down 17c. The top price went to a line of 92 weaned Angus steers from A/c ‘Tureevale Partnership’, Coolah, NSW.

These steers were 9 to 10 months old and weigh 249kgs. Another highlight came from a line of 66 Angus steers offered by A/c ‘T.P & C.A Sheehan’, Coolac, NSW. These steers are of Crawford Blood and are 9-11 months old, weighing 246kgs and sold for 543c.

The 280 to 330kg steers sold from 361c to 499c, averaging 444c, up 32c. The top price went to a line of 58 Angus steers. These Rennylea and Millwilla blood steers offered by A/c ‘QWE Braund’, Ebor, NSW are 7 to 9 months old and weigh 315kgs. Another highlight includes a line of 10-11 month old, Shorthorn steers, out of Greenhills cows and Yamburgan bulls, weighing 303kgs, sell for 498c.

Feeder steers weighing 330 to 440kgs sold from 336c to 472c, averaging 408c, up 14c. The top price went to a line of Angus steers offered by A/c ‘NTR Ag’, The Summit, QLD. These steers are 8-10 months old and weigh 356kg. From Caramut, VIC a line of Angus steers of Lawson, Pathfinder and Stoney point bloodline sold for 459c. These steers are 8-10 months old and weigh 354kgs.

Heavy steers weighing over 400kgs sold from 337c to 417c, averaging 395c, up 2c. The top price went to a line of Toora West Angus Blood steers, offered by A/c ‘RUE Pty Ltd’, Dunkeld, VIC.

These steers are 12-13 months old, weigh 415kgs and are heading across the border into SA. From Narrabri, NSW, A/c ‘JD & S Ridley’ sold a line of 44 Shorthorn/Hereford cross, 17 to 20 months, 426kgs steers for 414c.

Light heifers weighing under 200kgs sold from 387c to 544c, averaging 486c, up 18c. The top price went to a A/c ‘MH & K Foster’, Ebor, NSW who offered a line of Raff blood Angus heifers, aged 5 to 6 months and weigh 165kgs. From Wando Bridge, VIC, A/c ‘Bushy Park Angus’ sold a line of 50 weaned heifers, 9 to 11 months, weighing 187kgs for 519c.

Heifers weighing 200 to 280kgs, sold from 255c to 537c, averaging 434c, down 14c. The top price went to A/c ‘Bungle Boori P/ship’, Seymour, VIC for their line of 65 Angus heifers. These Bungle Boori, Reiland and Connemara blood heifers are 8 to 10 months and weigh 242kgs. From Dergholm, VIC, A/c ‘Bushy Park Angus’ sold a line of 63 Angus heifers, 9 to 11 months old, weighing 229kgs for 512c.

The 280 to 330kg heifers sold from 346c to 444c, averaging 394, up 13c. The top price went to A/c ‘Hill Waters Farms’, Lake Mundi, VIC who offered a line of Boonaroo, Weeran & Glatz Angus blood, 11 to 12 month old, weighing 303kgs. Special mention to A/c ‘WJ Cooper’ from Durong, QLD, who offered a line of Rosevale blood Santa Gertrudis heifers, 12 to 15 months old, weighing 301kgs, selling for 444c.

The top price went to A/c ‘Krawarree Pastoral Co & Sarah O’Brien’, Braidwood, NSW who offered a line of 16 to 17 month old Angus heifers, weighing 348kgs. From Blackall, QLD, A/c ‘Nebrean Pty Ltd’ sold a line of Canowindra, Dunlop, Yugilbar and Cooinda blood heifers, 12 to 18 months old, weighing 341kgs for 441c.
