Cows and calves jump by $196 to top at $3700

Cows-barattaCows with calves at foot saw a $196 increase on the previous week, boasting a $2,836 average which ranged from $1,560 to $3,700 with a 95% clearance.

The top price went to a line of 3-year-old NSM Heifers nurturing 4-7-month CAF by A/c Bill & Anna Gialouris. Hailing from Robertson NSW, the vendor bred restocker package will make the trip to Malabar, NSW.

Another highlight includes a line of 4-year-old NSM Angus cows with 1-8-week-old CAF from Bathurst, NSW which returned $3,610 and will now travel to Camden, NSW.

PTIC cows were firm averaging $2,126 with prices selling from $1,760 to $2,910. The top price achieved by A/c ‘Hardie Pastoral Co’ of Bongongo & Milwillah bloodline cows PTIC to Bongongo L564. The 3.5-year-old Wallendbeen, NSW residents ranged from 585kgs to 765kgs and now make their way to Mangoplah, NSW.

PTIC heifers also saw a softening price trend, averaging $147 cheaper than last week at $1,937 with prices ranging from $1,230 to $2,580.

The stock category achieved an 87% clearance. The top line of Angus PTIC heifers weigh 543kgs, hailing from Wallenbeen NSW, by A/c ‘Hardie Pastoral Co’ with Bongongo & Milwillah blood.

Another highlight shown through with Santa Gertrudis heifers by A/c ‘McAlary Agriculture’ reached $2,430 and will now travel from Warren NSW to Blackall QLD.

The steer offering increased to total 5,609 head this week, 1,277 head more than last week’s offering. Steers weighing under 200kgs sold from 302c to 678c and average 588c, selling 62c dearer than the previous week. The top line of steers consisted of 3-month-old Friesian steer calves from Finley, NSW. Offered by A/c ‘P & H Gray’ the steers weigh 89kgs and will journey to a buyer in Darlington Point, NSW.

Steers 200-280kgs increased on last week, gaining 15c to average 525c with prices ranging between 485c and 591c. From Toobeah, QLD A/c ‘JH Fairfax & Son’ achieved the top price with a line of Angus cross steers aged 12-13-months weighing 249kgs. Another highlight includes a line of Murray Grey steers from Coonalplyn, SA. These steers are 5to 8 months, weigh 216kg and sold for 573c.

The 280-330kg steers gained 9c to average 466c with prices selling from 371c to 560c. Offered by A/c ‘A. Stewart’, the top line consisted of 9-10-month-old Angus steers weighing 330kgs.

The steers will travel from Ilford, NSW to their new home in Camden, NSW. From Jandowae, QLD a line of Santa cross steers, aged 12 to 15 months, and weighing 296kg sold for 486c to a buyer in Goondiwindi, QLD

Feeder steers weighing 330-400kgs were steady to average 432c with prices selling between 344c and 473c. Hailing from GLENBURN, VIC the top line consisted of 13-14-month-old Angus steers weighing 386kgs. The vendor bred steers offered by A/c ‘Larkfield Pastroal Pty Ltd’ will journey to a buyer in ELLINBANK, VIC.

Steers weighing 400kgs+ sold from 342c to 433c which on average are 5c cheaper at 397c. Checking in at 424kgs, the top line of Angus cross 16-20-month-old were offered by A/c P.A & D Blain Pty Ltd’ from Wyuna, VIC and will head interstate to Murray Downs, NSW. From Augathella, QLD a line of Droughtmaster steers, aged 16 to 20 months, weighing 405kgs sold for 410c.

Weaner and Yearling heifer listing numbers also saw an increase this week, up 2,068 head to a total of 7,911 head. Heifers weighing under 200kgs sold from 414c to 639c, on average 32c back from last week at 438c.

The top line consisted of Angus heifer calves aged 5 months from East Kangaloon, NSW. Offered by A/c ‘Ballymena Past Co’ the heifers weigh 155kgs and will head to a buyer in Dubbo, NSW.

Heifers weighing 200-280kgs decreased by 16c to average 469c with prices selling between 355c and 608c. The top line hailed from Jandowae, QLD, and consisted of Angus weaned heifers aged 10-12 months weighing 214kgs. Offered by A/c ‘Glenoch Farms PTY Ltd’ the heifers will journey to Condamine, QLD. From Canowindra, NSW a line of Speckle Park & Speckle cross heifers, aged 9 to 11 months, weighing 278kg sold for 595c.

The 280-330kg heifers were steady this week, falling 2c to average 462c with prices ranging from 333c to 651c. Hailing from Inverell, NSW the top line of Wagyu over Angus heifers weighed 318kgs and are aged 13-14-months. Offered by A/c ‘S C Holder & J A Rowe’ the heifers will journey interstate to SA.

Feeder heifers weighing 330-400kgs sold from 339c to 525c which averages 24c cheaper at 425c. Coming from Cudgewa, VIC, the top line consisted of 12-13-month-old NSM Future Breeder Angus heifers weighing 355kgs. Offered by A/c ‘Cudgewa North Pastoral’ the heifers are of Te Mania & Ardrossan Angus blood.

Heifers tipping over the 400kg mark also sold to a cheaper trend, down 18c to average 412c with prices ranging between 361c and 430c. The top line consisted of Angus NSM future breeders aged 11-13-months weighing 424kgs. Offered by A/c ‘Ireland Farming’ from Condobolin NSW the heifers will journey to Quirindi, NSW. From Clay Wells, SA a line of Hereford heifers aged 19 to 20 months, weighing 418kgs sold for 421c to an interstate buyer.

Across the Bass Strait to Tasmania saw a reduced offering of 396 head this week, an increase of 164 head.

Clearance rates remained firm at 96%. Weaner and Yearling heifers sold from $1,010 to $1,220 and averaged $1,097. The top line was offered by A/c ‘LNS & SA Rodman’ from Sprent TAS with an offering of 7-8-month old heifers vealers weighing 287kgs. Weaner and Yearling steers sold from $830 to $1,687 and averaged $1,176.

The top price went to a line of Murray Grey weaned steers aged 10-12-months from A/c ‘I & C Atkinson. Another highlight included a line of Angus cows and calves from Stanley TAS which weigh 599kgs and returned $3,230. Well done A/c ‘Wickford Cattle Company’ on a great result.
