Speckle Park cows set commercial record of $5580

Speckle-park-record-cowsKicking things off with a new record broken for a line of cows and calves, it now stands at $5,580, achieved in the Eastern States Cattle sale.

The line of Speckle Park 3-year-old cows are unjoined, and have 3-6-week-old Speckle Park calves at foot (pictured) for vendor DA & RD Scott from Meeniyan, VIC. The previous record for cows and calves was $3,900.

Cows and calves ranged from $1,160 to $5,580 to average $3,137. Another stand out line was for 5-year-old Angus cows and calves at Coonamble, NSW. The cows are station mated back to Angus bulls and the calves at foots are sired by Angus bulls, averaging 266kgs.

These cow and calf units are staying within the Ccentral West NSW and spending the warmer months in the Dubbo, NSW area. Well done to vendors “Head Pastoral Co.”

PTIC cows sold between $970 and $2,900 to average $2,143. The top price hailed from Glen Innes, NSW. This quality line of 3.5-year-old Angus cows are PTIC back to Angus bulls and will be staying within the area, just a stones throw away to North Star, NSW. Well done to vendors “Yirri North Pastoral”.

PTIC heifers sold between $1,650 and $3,050 to average $2,291. The top price was achieved by vendors “Chenu Holdings P/L” located at Baringhup West, VIC. This line of Charolais heifers are 25-26 months old and are PTIC back to Charolais bulls. Heifers are heading further north in Victoria to Dookie, VIC.

A highlight from the week was a large consignment of 1,477 breeders by A/c “Rallen Australia” from Daly Waters NT.

The offering comprised of PTIC and Station Mated cows as well as Cows with CAF which were met with strong competition from a wide audience. Bidders were active from WA, NT, QLD and NSW, with 5 successful purchasers and cattle heading to central and northern NSW, southern QLD, and some staying “local” in the NT. The mixed age breeders sold to $1270 for 290 PTIC Brahman cows, and $1160 for 230 Brahman cows with 160 calves at foot.

Heifers weighing 200kgs and under ranged from 394c to 732c to average 600c. The top price was achieved from a line of 7-8-month-old Angus/Hereford weaners weighing 175 kgs making $1,280 or 732c. Well done to vendors “DF & M CLEVES” from Mt Gambier, SA.

Heifers weighing 200-280kgs ranged from 348c to 660c to average 514c. The top price hailed from again Mt Gambier, SA from the same vendor as the lighter weighing heifers “DF & M CLEVES.” Their line of 7-8-month-old Angus/ Hereford Heifers weigh 217kg and made $1,430 or 660c.

Heifers weighing 280-330kgs ranged from 360c to 575c to average 474c. The top price was achieved for a line of 13-14-month-old Angus heifers weighing 303kgs making $1,740 or 575c. Well done to vendors “Knewleave Partnership” from Drysdale, VIC.

Heifers weighing 330-400kgs ranged from 385c to 518c to average 451c. The top price hailed from Marulan, NSW from vendor “C J Brewer and H Brewer” for their line of 9-13-month-old Limousin heifers, weighing 377.kg, making $1,955 or 518c.

Heifers weighing 400kg + ranged from 381c to 463c to average 417c/kg. The top price was achieved for a line of 16-19-month-old Angus heifers weighing 421kgs, making $1,950 or 463c. Well done to vendors “DC & P McDonald” from Tarcutta, NSW.

Steers weighing under 200kg ranged from 552c to 769 to average 648c. Well done again to the vendors “DF & M CLEVES” from Mt Gambier, SA on another top price this week. Their line of 7-8-month-old Angus/Hereford weaned steers, weighing 185kgs, making $1,420 or 769c.

Steers weighing 200-280kgs ranged from 346c to 652c to average 539c. The top price was achieved again by “DF & M CLEVES” from Mt Gambier, SA for a line of 7-8 month old Angus/Hereford weaned steers weighing 229kgs, making $1,490 or 652c.

Steers weighing 280-330kgs ranged from 396c to 609c to average 489c. The top price hailed from Corowa, NSW from vendor “Schoen Pastoral” for their line of 6-7-month-old, weaned Angus steers,weighing 282kg, making $1,720 or 609c.

Steers weighing 330-400kgs ranged from 380c to 495c to average 447c. The top price was achieved by vendors “Tainton Partnership” from Killingworth, VIC for their line of 8-9 month old, unweaned steers weighing 372kgs, making 495c.

Steers weighing 400kgs + ranged from 315c to 448c to average 412c. The top price was for a line of 12-13 month old Angus feeder steers from Merriwa, NSW. The steers tipping over the scales at 402kgs, making $1,800 or 448c. Well done to vendors “K & S CASBEN” on a great result.

Across the water to Tasmania this week saw 508 head offered and achieved a 100% clearance rate with two passed in lots sold promptly post sale. Cows with calves at foot (CAF) sold for $2,630 and $3,450 with the top price offered by A/c ‘Everton House’ at Evandale with a line of 16 NSM Angus heifers and calves. These 25-26-month-old Onslow blood heifers weigh 606kgs and have 10-16-week-old CAF weighing 126kgs, sired by registered Angus bulls.

There were 174 yearling steers offered this week selling between $500 and $1,670, averaging $1,333. The top price was secured by A/c ‘Troy Wright Holdings Pty Ltd’ at West Pine with 8 Angus/Murray Grey feeder steers weighing 381kgs.
