Joined heifers in demand and up $92 to reach $2920

Heifers-NayookPTIC heifers last week sold from $1,680 to $2920/head, averaging $2,142/head – up $92/head on the previous week.

The top price went to a line of Conamurra and Te Mania blood Angus heifers (pictured) from Nayook, VIC.

These heifers were aged 21-22 months, weighed 556kg and had been PTIC to Angus bulls.

Another highlight included a line of 24-36 month old heifers from Deepwater NSW, which sold for $2,640/head. These EU accredited heifers had been bred from Glenavon and Texas Angus bloodlines, weighed 553kg and were PTIC to Angus bulls.

PTIC cows sold from $1,200 to $3,020/head – averaging $2,187/head. This was down $131/head from last week.

The top price went to a line of Barwidgee & Coolana blood Angus cows from Moyhu, VIC. These rising four-year-old cows weighed 703kg and were PTIC to Angus bulls. Looking to Hope Forest SA, a small line of Speckle Park/Angus cows were offered, selling for $2,660/head. These cows were 5.5 years-old, weighed 722kg and PTIC to Speckle Park bulls.

Cows with calves at foot (CAF) sold from $1,450 to $3,800/head – averaging $2,865/head, back $29 from last week.

The top price went to a line of Hazeldean blood Angus cows & calves from Fullerton, NSW. The cows were 4.5-years-old, weighed 744kg and had been joined to Angus bulls.

The CAF were 3-4 months old and weighed 201kg. The top price out of Queensland went to a line of EU accredited Santa cross cows and calves from Surat, which sold for $2,610/head.

Weaner and yearling heifer numbers were back slightly for the week, for a total listing of 5,707 head – making up 29% of the week’s listings. Light heifers weighing under 200kg sold from 442c to 570c, to average 499c/kg – down 28c from last week. The top price was out of Tambo QLD – a line of crossbred heifers, aged 5-13 months, weighing 196kg.

Heifers weighing 200–280kg sold from 343c to 761c, to average 466c/kg – down 36c from last week.

The top price went to a line of Speckle Park heifers from Muckatah, VIC. These heifers were 5-7 months old and weighed 206kg. Another highlight includes a line of Speckle Park/ Angus heifers, aged 6-8 months and weighing 227kg from Millmerran, QLD – selling for 569c/kg.

Heifers weighing 280-330kg sold from 336c to 582c, to average 434c/kg – up 2c on last week. The top price went to a line of Wagyu/ Angus heifers from Inverell, NSW. These heifers were 12-14 months old and weighed 292kg.

Feeder heifers weighing 330–400kg sold from 395c to 497c, to average 433c/kg, down 2c from last week.

The top price went to a line of Angus cross heifers aged 8 – 9 months, weighing 332kg from Taralga, NSW. Another highlight includes a line of EU accredited Angus heifers, bred from Raff and Glenavon blood lines, aged 14 to 15 month and weigh 333kg from Guyra, NSW selling for 465c/kg.

Heavy heifers weighing 400kg+ sold from 374c to 425c, to average 406c/kg, up 1c on last week.

The top price went to a line of Angus heifers, bred from Cascade bloodlines, aged 14 – 15 months, weighing 401kg, from Gooramadda, VIC. Another highlight includes a line of Charolais cross heifers, aged 15 – 16 months, weighing 418kg from Tawonga, VIC selling for 421c/kg.

Weaner and yearling steer numbers were back this week, for a total listing of 6,546 head – making made up 33% of the catalogue.

Light steers weighing under 200kg sold from 411c to 668c, to average 554c/kg, up 46c on last week. The top price went to a line of Angus and Angus cross steers from North Star NSW. These steers were 3-5 months old and weighed 183kg.

Steers weighing between 200-280kg sold from 336c to 625c, to average 492c/kg – down 7c from last week.

The top price went to a line of Speckle Park steers from Muckatah, VIC. These steers were 5-7 months old and weighed 216kg. Another highlight came from Tambo QLD – a line of crossbred steers aged 5-13 months, weighing 204kg, which sold for 587c/kg.

Steers weighing 280-330kg sold from 252c to 601c, to average 483c/kg – down 16c from last week.

The top price came out of Inverell NSW, for a line of Wagyu/ Angus steers, aged 12-14 months weighing 329kg. From Stewart Range SA, a line of EU accredited Angus steers, age 8-9 months, weighed 317kg and sold for 529c.

Feeder steers weighing 330-400kg sold from 334c to 504c, to average 440c/kg – down 31c from last week.

The top price went to a line of Poll Hereford/ Hereford steers from Wantabadgery NSW. These steers were 13-14 months old and weighed 350kg.

Another highlight included a line of Angus steers from Hansonville VIC, which sold for 502c/kg. These steers were 9-10 months old and weighed 330kg.

Heavy steers weighing 400kg+ sold from 313c to 449c, to average 429c/kg – up 3c on last week. The top price went to a line of Angus steers from Scone NSW.

These steers were 13-15 months old, weighing in at 405kg. Another highlight included a line of Angus steers from Rutherglen VIC, which sold for 414c. These steers were 18-20 months old and weighed 496kg.

Tasmania’s numbers were up this week for a total listing of 438 head and a clearance rate of 96%.

Cows with calves at foot sold from $2,425 to $3,100 – averaging $2,825/head. The top price went to a line of Angus cows and calves from Whitemark. The cows were 5 years old, weighed 710kg and had been joined to Wagyu bulls. The Wagyu CAF are 3-4 months and weighed 136kg.

Weaner and yearling steers sold from $710 to $1,820, – averaging $1,232/head. The top price went to a line of Angus and Angus cross steers from Bridport. These steers were 12-14 months and weighed 440kg.

Weaner and yearling heifers sold from $1,040 to $2,000, – averaging $1,503/head. The top price went to a line of Angus heifers, 12-14 months, weighed 435kg from Musselroe Bay.

From the same vendor, a 3 line of PTIC heifers were offered to average $2,511/head selling to a top of $2,600/head. These Angus heifers were aged from 16-36 months and had been PTIC to Angus Bulls. A line of PTIC Angus cows aged 3-10 years, weighing 705kg, and PTIC to Angus bulls from Musselroe Bay sold for $2,400/head.
