Charles Sturt University’s Dr Jeff McCormick and Jon Medway have been announced as two of the expert guest speakers at the 2021 Agribusiness Today Forum.
Spatial agriculture and the future of pastures on mixed farms are two topics Charles Sturt University academics will discuss at the keystone event for the upcoming Agribusiness Today Forum in Forbes.
For more than 25 years, the forum has brought together a range of industry speakers to give insight into domestic and international market trends, the opportunities for improving productivity and sustainability, and increasing market growth.
The two Charles Sturt academics joining this year’s line-up of expert presenters on Wednesday 4 August are Senior Research Fellow Spatial Agriculture in the Graham Centre for Agricultural Innovation Mr Jon Medway and Lecturer in Agronomy in the School of Agricultural Environmental and Veterinary Sciences and Graham Centre Dr Jeff McCormick.
The pair will make presentations for this year’s forum theme, ‘Mixed Farming Enterprises – Adapting to a Changing Climate’.
Charles Sturt Lecturer in Livestock Production Management in the SAEVS Dr Jane Kelly, who is part of the forum’s organising committee, said the two-day forum is a valuable opportunity for producers to connect with researchers and industry and to learn more about topics associated with the paddock to plate concept.
“Every year the forum provides great opportunities for the rural community to hear about latest research and market updates in relation to a variety of topics under a common and relevant theme and the practical implications for on-farm production,” Dr Kelly said.
Mr Medway will discuss the topic of spatial agriculture and how it can be used to tackle changes in climate and Dr McCormick will explore the topic of pastures on mixed farms for a future climate.
The forum is an initiative of Charles Sturt, the Graham Centre (an alliance between Charles Sturt and the NSW Department of Primary Industries), Local Land Services NSW, Central West Farming Systems and Regional Development Australia Central West.
This year it is expected to attract more than 100 delegates to the main event at the Forbes Golf and Sportsman’s Hotel and will also include a local field visit on Thursday 5 August to HE Silos, Austasia Animal Products and Advanced Animal Nutrition.
COVID-19 restrictions apply and measures will be put in place to ensure the safety of all participants.
