Flood appeal funds donated to BlazeAid for fencing

Floods-2Funds raised through the NSW Farmers Flood Appeal have been donated to BlazeAid to assist with the task of replacing fencing destroyed by major flooding in April.

NSW Farmers launched the appeal through its Natural Disaster Relief Fund (NDRF) to support farmers with recovery efforts.

“The mid north coast region was hit particularly hard, with what many described as a one-in-a-hundred year rain event,” said NSW Farmers CEO Pete Arkle.

“I saw the devastation myself after visiting members in the Wauchope region who had lost kilometres of fencing and massive erosion on their farms.”

“BlazeAid do a fantastic job in providing practical support for farmers impacted by natural disasters. Fixing fences is one of the first jobs to do so farmers can manage livestock and cropping and pasture paddocks.”

BlazeAid sent up in camp in Wauchope in April 2021 and will use the $20,000 donation to purchase fencing supplies.

BlazeAid President Kevin Butler said he was overjoyed at the $20,000 donation from the NSW Farmers Flood Appeal as it would go a long way in helping farmers get back to normality.

“After seeing first hand the impact of the rain event and resulting flooding, there is a lot of work to be done in the area and BlazeAid will do its utmost to help those impacted,” Mr Butler said.
