Farm tours and leading industry speakers at Wagyu conference

Wagyu-conference-2The annual WagyuEdge Conference and Tour will get underway in just under two weeks. The conference is a mecca for the global Wagyu industry examining important sections of our industry over two and half days.

Industry leaders from Australia and internationally have been invited to be a part of the speaker lineup to tackle some of the important topics the industry has been discussing such as:

  • Australia’s position in the global Wagyu sector post-COVID (insights, trends and opportunities)
  • How technology is able to assist you in the field
  • Opportunities for Wagyu in a carbon future
  • Perspectives from international breeders about the Wagyu sector, and
  • The latest research into Wagyu traits, commercial application of this research and future directions

Hosted by the AWA on behalf of our members, the conference is a platform for the broader Wagyu sector to gather, learn and network to deepen business relationships and extend our knowledge to advance Wagyu as the world’s luxury beef.

Winding our way through the ranges of North Eastern Victoria, the post-conference tour will visit three impressive farms –  The Falls Pastoral and Stone Axe’s Cobungra Station and Yulong Investments (pictured above) and nearby wineries including Mitchelton Wines and Baileys of Glenrowan.

DAY 1: THE FALLS PASTORAL

The Falls breeding cows are grazed on the lush green rolling foothills of the Strathbogie ranges in North Eastern Victoria, in the clean crisp mountain air adjacent to Victoria’s pristine alpine snow fields.

The Falls fullblood Wagyu herd is derived from a selection of Tajima cows from Australia’s revered Blackmore herd. Selected for their superior carcass quality and marbling characteristics.

DAY 2: COBUNGRA STATION

Cobungra Station is steeped in rich history and holds an unparalleled reputation for producing high quality beef in a pristine environment.
The cattle are raised on land with pure air, high rainfall and abundant running water, surrounded by the striking natural beauty of the Australian Alpine region.

Cobungra Station Wagyu consistently produces marbling scores of 9+ through a stringent genetic selection program.

DAY 3: YULONG INVESTMENT

Yulong Stud was founded by Mr Yuesheng Zhang, firstly in China, and later here in Australia. Standing some of the worlds most renowned stallions in the thoroughbred industry including Written Tycoon (pictured), with state of the art facilities.

Yulong has recently ventured into the Wagyu space and will this year sell their first entry in the 2022 Elite Wagyu Sale.
