Direct freight route between Toowoomba and Vietnam for beef

Mort-&-CoThe Wagner Corporation and Vietnam’s largest luxury importer, Imex Pan Pacific Group, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop a direct freight route between the airport and Cam Ranh international airport, on the South Coast of Vietnam.

Mort & Co CEO, Stephen O’Brien said the new freight route will see the company’s beef up on another international stage.

“We’re on the verge of becoming the beef capital of Australia here on the Darling Downs,” he said.

“And this opportunity to have our meat in Vietnam within 72 hours is the gamechanger the region needs.”

The Commerce Corridor is proposed to provide access for producers to have a seamless 72 hour ‘port to-door’ deliveries, daily cargo flights out of Wellcamp and direct access to IPP’s high end consumers.

Philip Nguyen, Vice President of IPP Group, said the Commerce Corridor will showcase high quality goods to its growing customer base.

“The corridor will access our customers’ growing demand for a range of Australian products, from beef and other agricultural produce to pre-packaged foods.

Wagner Corporation Chairman, John Wagner, says the Commerce Corridor offers the local agricultural industries a new way to export.

“We’re committed to fostering cross border trade to benefit the region’s producers. It is estimated that 15% of interstate air freight exports originate in Queensland which adds a 12-hour transit time before freight arrives at an airport for export. IPP Group has substantial experience in logistics, in-country sales and distribution which will complement our facilities.”

Mort & Co’s CEO says Vietnam is an emerging market for Australian beef.

“We’ve had some product in Vietnam but logistically it has been a hard market to get meat into. The most exciting prospect of this agreement with IPP Group and Wellcamp, is the fact that it complements our supply chain that provides a true paddock to plate experience. We’re excited to see the outcome of today’s signing.”

The Wagner Corporation and IPP will now develop a business case that investigates the potential benefits of the Commerce Corridor and set a framework for its implementation.
