Cadetship to offer hands-on experience in digital agricultural market

Following the successful launch of the Angus Foundation Industry Cadetship Program in 2022, Angus Australia is pleased to announce that applications are now open for Angus Australia members to access the opportunity to work with Australia’s Digital Ag Market, AuctionsPlus.

Now in its second year, the Angus Foundation AuctionsPlus Cadetship is designed to give the recipient hands-on experience in an agribusiness in the beef supply chain.

During the cadetship, the cadet will experience the day-to-day operations within AuctionsPlus and develop a unique understanding of how the business works and the central role of the platform in driving innovation within the agricultural industry.

The cadet will be given all the tools to develop an appetite for further learning and understanding of the workplace and operations at AuctionsPlus.

“We are pleased to be partnering with AuctionsPlus again in 2023 to provide this cadetship following the success of the inaugural cadetship this year,” said Angus Australia Extension Manager Jake Phillips.

“We hope that out of the cadetship the chosen recipient will gain valuable experience and insight into a sector of the agricultural industry and one of the many diverse career avenues available to people in the industry.”

Angus Street, CEO, AuctionsPlus shared his organisations enthusiasm for the upcoming cadetship.

“AuctionsPlus is proud to partner with the Angus Foundation once again to give the next generation of Angus Youth hands-on experience within the Agriculture Industry. We’re excited to share that we are offering the opportunity for a 4-week cadetship in AuctionsPlus to help provide valuable insight into Australia’s Digital Ag Market.”

“The successful cadet will learn the ins and outs of our business, as well as gain an understanding as to the role and opportunities for digital agriculture. Working across our business you will be exposed to multiple areas that will help you get an understanding of some of the opportunities in agriculture today. We can’t wait to see the applications and we look forward to meeting the successful applicant in the near future.”

The cadetship will take place over a four-week period, with the recipient working with AuctionsPlus across their network for the duration of the program.

Angus Youth member Bonnie Cox was the recipient of the inaugural AuctionsPlus Cadetship in 2022 and has since gone on to become a member of staff at the organisation.

“The cadetship was a month long, so there was a lot jampacked into it, which I really enjoyed and was given a good, versatile look at the entire company that is AuctionsPlus,” said Miss Cox.

“It’s completely changed my life, in a sense. The cadetship has given me a new career, new peers around me that are different in the industry. I’ve got to network with a lot of really cool contacts, and my future just looks completely different to how it did before the cadetship.”

Following their placement with AuctionsPlus the successful recipient will conclude their cadetship by completing the Marcus Oldham Rural Leadership Course. The Marcus Oldham Rural Leadership Program is an intensive five-day workshop and is recognised as one of the longest running rural leadership programs in the nation.

“That was one of the most exciting things I’ve ever done. And to date, I think it was one of the most valuable weeks I’ve ever had,” said Miss Cox of her time taking part in the course.

“You don’t just learn about leadership, but you learn a lot about yourself. As I’ve been telling everyone, I feel like I have mentally aged five years since I came back from that.”

Applications for the Angus Australia – AuctionsPlus Cadetship close 30 January 2023.
