For those who are seeking an opportunity to experience varying production systems in the beef industry, the Angus Foundation and Neogen Australasia are proud to present the inaugural Neogen Angus Foundation Production Tour.
Starting in Brisbane, QLD, the tour will happen over 3 days and will take a deep dive into beef production in the region.
The tour will look at all facets of the supply chain, from breeding and genetics with a tour of Neogen’s brand new DNA lab, visit a leading seedstock entity and a commercial beef production enterprise in the region, through to large scale lot feeding and processing.
Taking place, July 18th to 21st 2023 this particular trip is designed for eight Angus Australia members aged 18 to 30 that may not have yet had the chance to see firsthand the beef supply chain in this region and to gain an appreciation of Angus cattle in the South-East Queensland environment.
The trip is all inclusive, with accommodation, food and other tour costs all kindly covered by the Angus Foundation and partners, Neogen Australasia, with all participants required to do is get themselves to Brisbane at their own expense.
“Neogen is pleased to partner with Angus Australia to bring the Neogen Angus Foundation Production Tour to Queensland,” said Hannah Bourke, Genomics Sales Manager, Neogen Australasia.
“Neogen has had a long-standing relationship of innovation with Angus Australia and its members as it looked forward to the future and are pleased to be a part of the next generation of our industry. We especially look forward to taking the Neogen Angus Foundation Production Tour participants through our QLD based lab so they can gain an insight on how we process AngusGS and HeiferSelect samples right here in Australia!”
Angus Australia Northern Extension Officer Jen Peart encourages anyone with an interest in investigating production systems that may vary from their own to apply for the tour opportunity.
“The inaugural Neogen Angus Foundation Production Tour is a fantastic opportunity for young Angus Australia members to gain exposure and understanding of the beef supply chain, and experience some of the facets of beef production in the southeast Queensland environment,” said Jen.
“It is going to be a fantastic opportunity to see some cutting edge operations – from breeding and genetics through to lot feeding, processing and the retail interface with consumers. I look forward to showing the successful applicants how it is done in Queensland!”
