The Efficient Beef Open Day will highlight updates and developments from the Angus Sire Benchmarking Program, the Low Methane Beef Project, the Southern Multibreed Project and include an opportunity to view the ASBP Cohort 12 steers.

The open day on November 22 at 10.30am at the UNE SMART Farms Tullimba Feedlot will showcase the latest in research and development from ongoing research projects.

Angus Australia members and industry representatives are invited to attend the event, which will be hosted in conjunction with the University of New England (UNE) and the New South Wales Department of Primary Industries (NSW DPI).

Angus Australia R&D Specialist Dr Liam Mowbray encourages anyone with an interest in getting an up-to-date overview of the various research projects currently being conducted by Angus Australia and its partners to attend the Open Day.

“With various presentations throughout the day from beef researchers, the field day will provide an opportunity for attendees to learn about the latest research developments from this industry collaboration,” said Dr Mowbray.

“This is a fantastic event, contributed to by Angus Australia and all the partners, and is a magnificent opportunity to get out and about,” said Angus Australia member Sam White, Bald Blair Angus, at the 2022 Efficient Beef Open Day, when the last update was made to members regarding the ongoing projects.

“Tullimba Feedlot has had a history of massive research into the beef industry in par􀆟cular and it’s been of major assistance and contribu􀆟on to the ASBP. During the Efficient Beef Open Day, we have had a focus on feed efficiency and methane emissions, and these are two extremely important traits that are very expensive to measure and it’s a consequence of large industry support from all the funders and collaborators at industry to come together and to put this science into frui􀆟on,” added Sam.

“Methane emissions are very topical in an era of climate change and what our industry can do about it. It’s extremely important that we, one, do the research and then it’s extremely important that we act as a result of the consequences of the research in the coming years.”
