International and domestic audiences who can’t make it to Rockhampton for Beef2024 will still have the opportunity to experience the industry-leading event, with extraordinary access to the action via Beef TV.
Extending the reach of the Southern Hemisphere’s pre-eminent livestock exposition, the bespoke program and streaming service will feature seven channels capturing all the big moments from Centre Ring, the symposium and seminars, and the trade fair and exhibition halls.
Beef Australia Chief Executive Officer, Simon Irwin, said whether you were in Rockhampton or sitting at home across the country or the world, the showcase of how Australia is helping to lead the world in innovative and sustainable beef production would take centre stage.
“Thanks to our livestream partner, Stocklive, six channels will capture all the action of the Nutrien Ag Solutions Stud Cattle Championship, in what is going to be a phenomenal display of Australia’s leading beef cattle genetics,” Mr Irwin said.
“Beef TV’s seventh channel will include rolling interviews, panel discussions and live crosses capturing industry insights, insider knowledge from Beef2024 stakeholders, market trends, market updates from international Trade Commissioners, success stories, and Beef2024 news updates.
“Hosted by well-known journalist, Andrea Crothers, and Australian agricultural show identity, Lyndsey Douglas, Beef TV will deliver an insightful, educational and exciting eight-hour program each day.”
Andrea and Lyndsey will kick off their live coverage with the Nutrien Ag Solutions Commercial Cattle Championship at Gracemere Saleyards on Monday, 6 May, where the best in the country will be crowned and auctioned.
“However, Beef TV won’t be all cattle and delicious-looking beef, there will also be some gems in the program that highlight the true depth of knowledge and experience that can be found within the people joining us at Beef2024,” Mr Irwin said.
“The Beef TV team has searched Australia to track down the oldest pair of boots from iconic bootmaker, RM Williams, and they’ll also be serving up tips on being influential from globally respected leader, former New Zealand Prime Minister Sir John Key.
“Dr Philip Zada will give us an insight into bovine biometrics and how cattle facial recognition is being used to improve traceability and reduce theft, while Selwyn Maller of The Phat Wag will talk all thing striploins to soft-serve and how beef is now an ice-cold dessert.”
Tourism Minister Michael Healy said Beef TV would take Beef2024 to a global audience.
“Beef TV is a great addition to the Beef2024 program to connect viewers to all the live action across the event,” Mr Healy said.
“Rockhampton is the beef capital of Australia for good reason, with more than 115,000 visitors expected to attend this year’s event, which is great news for local accommodation, hospitality and tourism operators.
“The Miles Labor Government’s investment of $2.25 million in Beef2024 is expected to deliver a significant return, with the 2021 event injecting $94 million into the local visitor economy while supporting good Queensland jobs.”
Beef TV will air from Monday, 6 May to Friday, 10 May, from the LAWD International Business Lounge.
