Angus breeders from 26 countries to descend on World Angus Forum at Brisbane

The 2025 Neogen World Angus Forum, a leading global event for the Angus beef industry, announced the countdown to its landmark event in Brisbane.

“This 50-day mark is an exciting one for our breed. The groundwork has been laid, and the plans are in place. It’s time to fill the seats and come together to celebrate Angus,” said Scott Wright, CEO, Angus Australia.

Set to take place at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (Bcec), the Forum will be officially opened by the Governor of Queensland alongside Minister for Agriculture, the Hon Anthony Perrett. The event will kick off with an inspiring keynote address by rugby legend John Eales, who will share valuable insight on the intersection of rugby, business and leadership.

Industry heavyweights such as Mark McCulley, CEO of the American Angus Association, John Stika, President of Certified Angus Beef, and Scott Wright, CEO of Angus Australia, will share their knowledge and vision for the future of the breed. Scott Wright emphasised, “Angus cattle make up 52% of Australia’s beef industry, and Angus Australia invites everyone to join us as we look beyond the horizon to the future of Angus in Australia: ‘Angus for Every System.’”

The first day of the Neogen World Angus Forum will conclude with a much-anticipated market forecast presentation from Simon Quilty, providing the latest insights into the future of the Angus breed. In the evening, attendees will cross the Brisbane River to The Star Brisbane, where Executive Chef Mark Penner will prepare an exclusive six-course menu incorporating Angus into every dish.

On day two, the Forum will focus on the latest genetic advancements in Angus cattle, addressing the question of where the breed will go next in terms of genetic improvement. Attendees will hear from leading geneticists, including Dr Stephen Miller, Dr Alison Van Eenennaam, Carel Teseling, and Professor Sam Clarke. Scott Wright commented, “The advancements in genetics are crucial for the sustainability and improvement of the Angus breed. We are pioneering new frontiers in cattle breeding.”

Beyond genetics, the conference will explore the role of Angus in a carbon-conscious world and the future of Angus beef in human nutrition. Brisbane’s own Dr Anneline Padayachee will present on the vital role of beef in a nutrient-dense diet. This multifaceted approach to the Forum ensures that all pertinent aspects of the Angus industry are thoroughly covered.

Summarising the significance of the event, Scott Wright added, “The Neogen World Angus Forum 2025 will bring together Angus breeders from 26 countries, offering a unique opportunity for international collaboration and access to the latest industry research and technology.”

Organised by Angus Australia, a member-owned society representing over 4,000 breeders, students, and commercial cattle producers, this event marks the largest Angus event in Australia since the last World Angus Forum held in Sydney in 1997.
