Market challenges ahead of harvest to be revealed at Riverine Plains conference

Farmers and advisors are invited to join Riverine Plains for a dynamic half-day conference at Corowa Distilling Co. on Wednesday, 6 August 2025, designed to provide timely insights into the agronomic and market challenges emerging ahead of harvest.

The event builds on the success of last year’s In-Season Update, which attracted over 80 people from across the Riverine Plains region. This year’s program brings together leading voices in agronomy, sustainability, and grain marketing to arm growers with the latest information they need to make confident on-farm decisions.

Riverine Plains CEO, Pip Grant, said the event is timed to provide growers with practical, actionable information as they prepare for spring and then harvest.

“By August, most farmers have a gut feel for how the season’s shaping up — but it’s the conversations with others, the exchange of ideas, and a timely steer from the experts that sharpen the next move. That’s exactly what the In-Season Update is designed to offer.”

Key topics include new ISCC (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) requirements and what they mean for chemical storage on-farm, changes to paraquat registration and alternative weed control options, strategies for reducing weed seedbanks, and commodity market forecasts.

This year, the update will feature three industry experts: Rosemary Richards (Chair of Sustainable Grain Australia), Greg Condon (Agronomist at Grassroots Agronomy), and Lachlan Condon (Senior Commodity Advisor at Market Check).

The event will conclude with a Q&A panel session featuring all three speakers, offering attendees the opportunity to raise questions and tap into a wealth of industry knowledge.

Registration to the In Season Update include morning tea, lunch and proceedings provided at Corowa Distilling Co. Cost is free for Riverine Plains, non-Riverine Plains Members $40. The event will run from 8.30am to 1.30pm, and everyone is welcome to attend.
