Young beef professionals can now apply for future leaders program

The Angus Australia Foundation, in partnership with specialist agricultural insurer Achema Farm Insurance, has opened applications or the 2026 GenAngus Future Leaders Program (GenAngus), the industry’s leading professional and business development experience for young beef professionals.

The 2026 GenAngus Future Leaders Program will be held in Tamworth, NSW, from May 18-22, 2026.

Since its launch in 2019, GenAngus has become the pinnacle of youth development at Angus Australia. Now entering its eighth year, the program has supported almost 100 future beef leaders, many of whom have gone on to purchase land, build their own beef enterprises, step into management roles, and shape the future of the Australian livestock industry.

More than a workshop, GenAngus is a launchpad, offering participants the business capability, leadership confidence, and network they need to accelerate their careers and enterprises.

Angus Australia Chief Executive Officer, Scott Wright, said “GenAngus continues to be one of the most valued programs developed by Angus Australia,” Mr Wright said. “We see the impact of this program every day through our alumni who are building businesses, contributing to their communities, and stepping into leadership roles. The 2026 program will be another outstanding opportunity for emerging beef professionals to grow their capability and shape the future of our industry.”

A transformative experience GenAngus participants undertake a four-day intensive workshop, designed to build practical knowledge, strategic insight, and long-term professional growth.

Across the program, participants gain:

  1. Real-world business skills, including financial management and succession planning
  2. Industry insight spanning the beef supply chain, risk management, and liability
  3. Connections that count, with access to mentors, industry leaders, and a growing alumni community

Achmea Farm Insurance Chief Executive Officer, Emma Thomas, said “As an insurer with a co-operative heritage, Achmea Farm Insurance understands the power of collaboration and shared knowledge. GenAngus is a program created by agricultural leaders for emerging leaders, and its success reflects the strength of that approach. In a rapidly changing world, investing in future leaders is essential to building resilience and innovation across the beef industry. Supporting GenAngus aligns with our vision to protect and enhance the livelihoods of farming families, ensuring they can make confident decisions and lead with purpose for generations to come.”

As the program evolves, 2026 will see even more alumni returning as guest speakers, sharing lived experiences in business, innovation, and leadership. Their stories reflect the enduring impact of GenAngus, a program that does not just teach, but transforms.
