Catalogues are now available online on the Shorthorn Beef website for the 57th Shorthorn National Show and Sale.

The annual event, believed to be the longest continuously running multi-vendor breed based sale in Australia, is set to take off again at it’s traditional home, Dubbo Showgrounds, June 14th and 15th, 2016.

In total 106 Shorthorn sires and 13 registered Shorthorn L heifers will be offered at the 2 day event.

In 2015, the Shorthorn National Show and Sale broke the records, posting the highest ever average in it’s 57 year history, with Shorthorn sires averaging $6,713.

Shorthorn National Show and Sale Committee President, Lester Job, said “The fact that the sale is in its 57th year speaks volumes for the credibility, quality and standing the fixture has within the breed and beef industry at large”

“It’s essential for the breed that the National Sale continues to prosper as it gives new and young breeders the opportunity to become established and provides an outlet for their cattle. There’s a significant group of breeders who support the National Sale who don’t have the scale of numbers of other breeders however their product is of such quality that is ranks up with the best in the breed”.

This years dinner will also feature a tasting of Thousand Guineas Shorthorn product, giving breeders an opportunity to sample this premium Shorthorn brand.

With Shorthorn cattle attracting premiums in the current market, Shorthorn bull sales have been extremely strong this Autumn and have seen sale increase volume sold by 20% with a 97% clearance rate.
