In 2016, the Sheep Meats Council of Australia is seeking two young sheep producers to be Sheepmeat Industry Ambassadors.
The award acknowledges the contributions of two outstanding young sheep producers as well as their future potential as industry leaders.
This opportunity involves a study tour in August 2016 as part of the Tri-Lamb Agreement between Australia, the United States and New Zealand.
The study tour of Australia and New Zealand will include ambassadors from the US and NZ. There is also a range of other opportunities and professional development as part of the program.

Applicants for the ambassador award must:
• Be aged 22-40 (at 1 July 2016).
• Be passionate and /or involved in representing and promoting the interests of sheepmeat producers.
• Currently work in the sheep industry (either on-farm or in another capacity).
• Have an Australian passport, or be able to obtain one for the trip.
• Be able to travel in Australia and to New Zealand in August 8-20, 2016 and have capacity for further travel as opportunities arise.
• Be willing to work with the SCA on future youth initiatives for the sheep industry.
• Be willing to provide a written report on the award and a presentation to the SCA board.
Interested young sheep producers must submit the application form and a two-minute video clip to be considered for the award. In the video, applicants must demonstrate their role in the industry and their vision for its future.
The timeline for nominations includes:
• Nominations open: 1 June 2016
• Applications close: 5pm on 24 June 2016
• Interviews to be conducted via telephone or skype (if necessary): 27-29 June 2016
• Successful applicant notified: 30 June 2016
• Attend Australia and New Zealand field trip: 8-20 August 2016
