Top selling lot at the recent Holstein Australia – Zoetis Showcase Sale at Bendigo was the outstanding Red & White cow, Empire Destry Pearl, VG 88 a/c Andrew Pacitti of South Australia.
This 3 year old boasted a BPI of 285, was backed by 5 gens of VG dams and went on the next day to win Intermediate Champion R & W of the Winter Fair. She was purchased at $11500 by A & J Hogg of Adlejama Holsteins of Biggara.
Next top price of $10300 was paid by the well known Kirk Andrews herd of Andrew Green of Tamworth, NSW for Australia’s # 12 BPI female, Country Road Royalman Carol, bred by Ross Cook of Edi, she is from the Canbee maternal line and sired by Royalman.
The Junior Champion of the R & W show at the Winter Fair, View Fort Barbwire Redfoo a/c Matt Templeton of Arcadia, due to calve in the Spring and backed by several gens of VG dams in the famed Blackrose family sold at $6600 to Pegasus Holsteins of Warragul. Another Red to create interest was Eclipsepeirce Arma Shandy (ET) backed by an EX 3E dam from the noted Rockridge S line sold at $4800 to S & L Coombes of Long Flat, NSW.
Many breeders spoke highly of the quality of Paringa Superpower Oprah, a September 2015 daughter of an EX Allen dam from the same maternal line as the reigning IDW Grand Champion, this lot sold a/c Pam Malcolm, Invergordon to Homelands Holsteins at $4300.
M Mangold of Regentville, NSW selected the tall January 2016 born Arrallik Doorman Meg a/c Cameron Yarnold at $4100.
Selling agents Dairy Livestock Services report there were buyers from throughout NSW, SA, Tasmania and Victoria.
