Some major feed lotters have dropped their rates at least 5c/kg as some producers are taking the money on offer instead of taking a punt and putting on the extra kilos.
The flip side to this is that while there are easy kilo gains to be had over the next month or so cattle will get heavier. This may push back the run of Spring cattle, time will tell.
Kill rates are still very strong and most works are only a week out, but keep an eye on prices, as they certainly will bring it back given the opportunity.
It would still be prudent to keep an eye on weight gains over the next few weeks or so to monitor your marketing’s, to achieve not only optimum weight but also best rate.
It has been interesting to see more and more bull sales this year engage AuctionsPlus as an addition to the physical sale day, this will continue to form part of stud’s annual sales as they look to enhance a wider bidding area.
The Targeted Feeder Sales have been well received, watch for the following dates as we approach the Spring selling period. These sales are open to all feeder types for both steers and heifers. Call us to discuss.
