Shorthorn beef medals in international competition

Screen Shot 2016-06-01 at 7.26.33 AMWith JBS Australia’s Thousand Guineas recently winning a silver medal at the brands inaugural showing at the Fine Food Awards in Sydney, Shorthorn brands are also having international success.

The World Steak Challenge, recently judged in London’s Hyde Park, featured 4 Shorthorn entries, 2 from Hannan Meats, Northern Ireland and 2 from Morrisons Supermarkets, Scotland.

The panel of independant judges assess sirloin steaks in 2 stages with stage 1 including with raw assessments for appearance, aroma, colour, marbling and consistency of fat and cooked assessments are based on  appearance, aroma, tenderness, flavour and succulence.

Stage 2 judges all gold medal winners from stage 1 under a new panel of independent judges.

All 4 Shorthorn entries received a medal, however an entry each from Hannan Meats and Morrisons were awarded gold medals in the prestigious competition.

With consumers increasingly conscious of eating quality and demanding a satisfactory experience from each meal, the eating quality of Shorthorns globally is receiving greater attention.
