Limousine Australia is exploring opportunities to roll out “Certified Limousin Beef” program for cattle supply in the Southern Highlands, Camden Region, as well as further opportunities in Northern NSW and Southern Qld.
The society is pursuing a strategy for identifying Limousin and Limousin cross cattle offered via direct consignment and through the Saleyard system on a National basis over the coming months.
This part of the program will involve cattle being identified with a traceable and auditable Vendor Declaration and ear tag system thatensures Limousin cattle are being recognised in the market to assist in achieving consistent premiums, and also attracting additional commercial producers to utilise Limousin bulls in pursuit of these markets.
Interest has also been received to establish “Certified Limousin Beef” programs in Western Australia and Victoria.
Over the coming months consumers will start to see branded Limousin beef at retail outlets to increase the demand for Limousin cattle.
