The few good pens of trade and heavy lambs sold to a dearer trend while the bulk of the trade lambs were lacking finish and pulled the average back at SELX Yass.
Light store lambs were in reduced numbers and there were no large drafts. Most of the lambs were older with a few lots starting to be old as lambs and hoggets. Not all the usual buyers attended the firm to cheaper market.
Light restocking lambs were $2 dearer selling from $76 to $101/head. The medium and heavy trade weights firm and ranged from $110 to $147/head averaging 585c to 600c/kg. Heavy lambs were firm to $3 cheaper and sold between $137 and $160 with extra heavies reaching $170/head. Carcass prices averaged between 575c and 595c/kg. The best of the hoggets reached $139/head.
Mutton numbers were steady and the quality plain with mostly light and medium weight 1 and 2 score Merinos offered. Plain mutton sold $6 to $9 cheaper while heavy sheep averaged $3 to $5/head cheaper. Medium weight Merinos sold from $60 to $88/head. Heavy crossbred ewes $90 to $126 and Merino wethers topped at $132/head. Most averaged 380c to 420c/kg.
