St Joseph’s Aberdeen were the lucky recipients of a steer donated by Gary and Karen Hedger, Garren Park Genetics at last year’s National Limousin Junior Show.
St Joseph’s Aberdeen soon began their preparation of the steer not long after they received him at their farm.
Hercules was a fantastic steer for the kids and displayed a perfect temperament, he even helped a lot of beginner cattle handlers build their confidence and develop their skills further.
The steer attended a number of local shows which he was fortunate enough to score some places at with St Joseph’s in the lead up to the Sydney Royal Easter Show.
The St Catherine’s School Singleton cattle team have a very close connection with the St Joseph’s school team and they work closely together with many of their steers and the shows they attend.
St Joseph’s didn’t attend Sydney Royal so the steer was exhibited with the St Catherine’s team. This unique steer made a significant impact on not only one school, but two schools and a countless number of children.
The steer competed at the Sydney Royal Easter Show along with 110 other purebred Limousin steers. He weighed 664kgs scanning 10mm of fat on the rib and 12mm on the rump.
The steer was beautifully presented by the school and a credit to their agricultural program.
