Hereford heifers with Black Baldy calves topped at $2825 in the Elders Albury Southern Female offering on AuctionsPlus last week.
A line of Angus & Angus/Hereford, 5 to 8 year old cows, with Rennlylea blood Angus calves at foot also from Wooragee Victoria sold for $2,760.
Cattle number’s held firm on AuctionsPlus, with 10,701 head listed, 175 up on last week.
The break up was dominated by young heifers who made up 45% of the offering, whilst New South Wales was the leading state in cattle offering just over 5,200 head on the box.
Across the commerical cattle sales there was a 68%, as the market firmed.
Special mention goes to the Elders Albury Southern Female offering.
This draft of cattle, put together by assessors Brett Shea, Matt Tinkler and Tim Hayes of Elders Albury and Phil Gledhill of Elders Holbrook; saw 545 cows and calves, heifers and calves, preg tested cows and preg tested heifers offered in the Eastern States cattle sales.
With all lines, bar one, selling. Highlights included Danetree blood 22-24 month old Hereford heifers, with Angus and Hereford calves at foot, from Wooragee Victoria selling for $2,825. A line of Angus & Angus/Hereford, 5 to 8 year old cows, with Rennlylea blood Angus calves at foot also from Wooragee Victoria sold for $2,760.
It was great to see cattle from Broome, with Landmark Broome offering 3 lines of Shorthorn and Red Brahman cross heifers. These lots saw bidders from three states competing on the 12 to 60 month old 215kg line which sold for $555.
Across the rest of the Eastern States catalogues, buyers looked to shore up herds with outstanding results for preg tested cows, heifers and cows with calves at foot.
Four- year old Reiland, Scotts and Bongongo Angus blood cows, which were preg tested to a Landfall Angus bull from Thorpdale, Victoria sold for $2950.
465kg Charolais/Angus heifers with Angus calves at foot from Mullengandra, New South Wales sold for $2900. While, Kenilworth blood Brahman heifers, preg tested in calf to Brahman bull, from Barcaldine, Queensland, sold for $1340.
